Rotational shift pattern 6am – 2pm/2pm – 10pm

To work as part of the production team to help achieve the daily production plan. Adhering to procedures, rules and processes set out by production management and other key functions. To work in a safe and time effective manner in accordance with health and safety standards and ensuring food safety, hygiene and quality standards are achieved.

  • Operate tools, machines and equipment for which training has been provided by the trainer to assist in the manufacturing process of all products.
  • Work efficiently to achieve the daily production plan and communicate shortfalls and production problems to the relevant person in a timely manner.
  • Mentor new colleagues as required
  • Adhere to all rules, processes and procedures in relation to the work process and conduct as set out by the production management team and other key disciplines such as Health and Safety, Human Resources, Technical and Hygiene.
  • Complete all paperwork as instructed accurately and within time specifications
  • Carry out work in a safe manner so as not to endanger yourself or a colleague.
  • Ensure that product is produced within food safety, hygiene and quality standards and that any anomalies are reported to your line manager.
  • Follow correct procedures i.e. the meat from the floor procedure.
  • Keep the work area clean, tidy and free from debris and waste to reduce the risk of accidents.
  • To be familiar with qualified first aider staff and the first aid procedure.
  • Ensure you are aware of all fire exits in all areas you may work and be sure to understand the emergency evacuation procedure.
  • Any other reasonable request as instructed by management.

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for Tray Wash Chargehand to join the busy Yard team at the Preston site.

The main purpose of the role is to ensure the efficient operation of the Dolav and Tray wash.

The main duties are:

  • Have a full knowledge of the correct operation of the machinery
  • Support, motivate and monitor the staff under his or her control
  • Police the movement of other staff entering and leaving the department
  • Maintain the discipline of segregation between the “dirty” and “clean” areas and the correct flow of equipment
  • Ensure that requirements of the factory are met in full at all times
  • Liaise with other department heads in order to ascertain their requirements
  • Maintain hygiene in and around the department to at least the required standard
  • Complete and maintain requisite records and reports
  • Recording area KPIs
  • Cover the Yard Charge Hand in their absence.

As a Charge Hand you have a moral & legal duty of care to those employees working within your area of responsibility and as such your duties will include:

  • Responsibility for maintaining the health & safety guidelines in the department
  • Involvement in the risk assessment process, to reduce the risk to health & safety in your area
  • Ensuring that all information relevant to “preventative and protective measures” is passed to your subordinates
  • Liaise with the health & safety department to establish controls for health & safety to include:

              1. Daily Start Up checks

              2. Monitoring of corrective actions

       3. Coordinate with other departments to ensure that planned preventative maintenance is carried out for safety   systems for machinery & equipment in your area of responsibility

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Junior Planning Assistant to join the busy Planning team at the Preston site. This is a great introductory level opportunity for the right candidate to join a forward looking department.

The purpose of the role is to provide support to the Planning Manager and wider team by ensuring the day to day raw material stocks are entered accurately, volumes planned accurately, and the planning systems and spreadsheets are updated promptly and accurately.

The main duties are:

  • To obtain, update and monitor the daily stock reports for raw materials
  • To create the opening raw material stocks report, and advise on actual opening stocks versus theoretical opening stocks
  • To ensure raw material is ordered to cover the finished pack planned requirements
  • To conduct daily physical stock checks as and when required as a result of discrepancies to the above
  • Enter internal / external orders in to NAV where required to allow greater control of intake in to the retail stocking systems
  • Entering and updating of 3rd party purchases in to NAV (Loins, Legs, etc) and the bought in sheet
  • Highlight any issues that arise from the above tasks to the Planning Manager in a timely fashion to allow corrective actions to take place
  • To ensure adequate maintenance of the relevant computer systems and files
  • To provide admin and reporting support to the Planning Team
  • Continuously improve systems, ways of working and reporting.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a QA to join the Riverside team. The QA will report to the QA Manager and be responsible for carrying out checks and ensuring that standards are maintained.  

Duties of the role include (not exhausted):

  • Conducting monthly traceability’s and completing check-sheets
  • Ensuring all stock sheets are fully checked and dealing with any anomalies
  • Ensuring the timely collection of chemical and microbiological samples
  • Carrying out weekly calibration of temperature probes
  • Conducting raw material samples and raising non conformances
  • Carrying out housekeeping audits as required
  • Ensuring Label accuracy and completion of label checks

It is desirable that the successful candidate has a background in quality assurance and can demonstrate attention to detail to ensure accuracy is maintained. Effective communication skills are essential to work alongside production in ensuring quality standards are achieved.

We are currently seeking to employ an Assistant Unit Manager for our new 750 Outdoor Breeding Unit, producing 7kgs based near Swaffham. This is a new position within Wayland Farms complete with new equipment and in pig gilts that will commence batch farrowing November 2017.

You will be actively involved with all areas of the pig breeding unit in order to meet the business requirements for the company.

You will be responsible for helping to manage the staff on the unit, ensuring the unit is kept clean and tidy at all times while maintaining the Health, Safety and welfare of yourself and your team. You will also be expected to stand in as Unit Manger in the event of the Unit Manager being absent from the farm.

The day to day duties of this role include but are not limited to feeding, moving and handling the pigs as well as stock counts and regular communication with the office.

You must be flexible, lead by example in all that you do and support other colleagues/teams and management.

Applicants will also need to demonstrate good time keeping and adhere to Animal Welfare at all times, ensuring that the company codes of Practice and policies are adhered to.

Previous practical experience with livestock is required.

We are looking for a QA to provide temporary cover for up to 6 months in our Retail department, day shift, working 4 on/4off shift pattern. The temporary period will run until approximately end of December.

The role will include;

  • Troubleshooting – ‘Walking the factory floor’ to identify any issues ahead of them arising and taking appropriate action.Dealing with issues as and when required.
  • Managing Corrective actions – making sure corrective actions are completed within appropriate timescales and that the relevant documents have been completed, e.g. hold log, non conformance log.Reporting any complex issues to QA Supervisor or QA Manager.
  • Audit paperwork – checking the production paperwork has been completed correctly by production staff (Checking production line paperwork)
  • Hygiene Audits, micro swabbing and micro sampling product
  • Checking the ‘online’ verifier and dealing with any issues
  • Formal GMP, Fabrication and Process Control Audits
  • Conduct documented checks that a % of the production run is within product specification

The ideal candidates will:

  • Be self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative
  • Be able to work additional hours as overtime may be required
  • Ideally have experience of working within a fast paced food manufacturing environment
  • Have a good level of both written and verbal English
  • Ideally have Level 2 Food Hygiene/Safety certification
