Cranswick Country Foods is one of the largest pork processors in the UK, dealing with multiple customers, the foodservice sector and further processors. 

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to join the busy Health, Safety & Environmental team at the Preston site. The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for managing all aspects of the health, safety and environmental practices on site. Delivering best practice, complying with legislation and promoting a proactive safe and environmentally friendly culture.

The main duties are:

  • To assist Managers and Supervisor’s to identify hazards in the workplace and to take corrective action or initiate controls to minimise the risk
  • Implement and maintain systems of reporting incidents to highlight potential problems and effective monitoring systems
  • To promote Health & Safety and Management of the Health & Safety (& Environmental at Preston) operation within agreed resource parameters
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current Health & Safety Legislation and feed back to the appropriate parties where necessary
  • To ensure the implementation of short & long-term group strategic plans to raise the standards of Health, Safety & environmental at the site as directed by the Group Health, Safety & Environmental Managers
  • Liaise with Group Health, Safety & Environmental and other Senior Managers to identify the correct levels of resources and manage the operation within these agreed parameters
  • Ensure that all staff have been given the appropriate level of training necessary to carry out their work within legislative and Health and Safety guidelines
  • Ensuring that all HSE information relevant to “preventative and protective measures” is communicated to your subordinates
  • Carry out activities with full awareness of their impact on the environment, both in terms of people and the local area

Reporting to the Divisional Financial Controller, this new role is the vital link between production, commercial and finance.  The role is varied and encompasses working together with and challenging of both the commercial and operational teams, in addition to development of the sites systems and reporting capabilities.

 

Job Specification/Responsibilities:

  • Product Costing for new products.
  • Continued development of the sites financial systems including NAV.
  • Verification and challenge of existing product costings and margins.
  • Working with NPD, Commercial and Operational Managers to develop and improve business, customer and product performance reporting.
  • Supporting the operational and commercial teams with relevant information to understand and improve performance.
  • Embedding the results of improved understanding, systems improvements and other learnings into the finance department.
  • Commercial and Operational knowledge based input into the weekly accounting process.
  • Verification of savings made by changes in factory process.
  • Main point of contact for operational and commercial based finance queries.
  • Attendance at factory meetings.

Person Specification

  • Fully Qualified accountant.
  • Detailed knowledge of manufacturing operations, with extensive costing experience.
  • High level of IT literacy.
  • Good Interpersonal skills.

  • Comfortable with dealing with staff at all levels from factory floor to director level.
  • Excellent time management skills - able to prioritise and manage workloads effectively.

Location: Cranswick Gourmet Bacon - Sherburn-in-Elmet

Reporting to the Divisional Financial Controller, the Financial Controller will be responsible for all day to day Finance functions, ensuring that robust controls are in place and that the finance department runs smoothly.  This role will have direct reports as follows: Management Accountant, Assistant Accountant, Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger.

 

Job Specification

Weekly Responsibilities

  • Verification of accurate stock valuation.
  • Weekly accounts preparation and analysis, including presentation at the weekly P&L review.
  • Review and approval of supplier payment runs and staff payroll.
  • Resolving queries of departmental staff, from other site departmental managers, and from head office.

Monthly Responsibilities

  • Run the month end process in full including producing the management accounts and group accounts.
  • Balance sheet control, reconciliations and follow up of any issues in a timely manner.
  • Completion of returns to head office
  • Ensure all monthly payments are made in a timely manner including Pension and PAYE
  • Tracking and control of capex projects
  • Production of a P&L rolling forecast

Other Responsibilities

  • Cover absence of Divisional Financial Controller, Management Accountant and Commercial and Systems Accountant.
  • Preparation of budgets and forecasts including analysis of major movements.
  • Main Point of contact for both internal and external audit.
  • Challenge of costs throughout the P&L, in particular overhead related spend across the site.
  • Year-end work; including tax.
  • Continuous Improvement of financial processes and controls.
  • Challenging other departmental managers on cost control and value for money.
  • Ensuring group policies are being adhered to.

Person Specification

  • Fully Qualified accountant.
  • Extensive hands on experience in all areas of accounts preparation – financial and management accounts.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations.
  • High level of IT literacy.
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to manage and develop the Finance team.
  • Strong character and comfortable with challenging other departmental managers.
  • Excellent time management skills – able to meet tight deadlines individually and as a department.
  • Experience of working cross functionally with the ability to explain financial impacts and issues to non-financial staff, and influence decision making.
  • Not afraid to make unpopular decision – which are in the best interests of the company.

We are currently seeking to employ a Stockperson on our Outdoor Breeding Units and Finishing Units in the Breckland Norfolk area.  You will be actively involved with all areas of the pig breeding or rearing unit in order to meet the business requirements for the company.

The day to day duties of this role include but are not limited to feeding, moving, serving and handling the pigs as well as maintaining the condition and appearance of the unit site where needed.

You must be flexible and show the ability to work within a team supporting colleagues and Management.

Applicants will also need to demonstrate good time keeping and adhere to Animal Welfare at all times.

Previous agricultural experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a QA to join the busy Technical team at the Hull site.  The purpose of this role is to support the Assistant Technical Manager in ensuring factory standards are maintained to a high level and food safety principles are followed at all times.

The main duties of the role are:

  • GMP audits of all departments
  • Maintaining the day to day calibration of key equipment
  • Compliance to food safety procedures
  • Ensuring all laboratory samples are logged
  • Daily organoleptic assessments and trending
  • Ensuring all microbiological, chemical, shelf life and environmental samples are collected and schedules maintained.
  • Helping customer complaint investigations and root cause analysis
  • Raw material sampling and feedback to suppliers

We are looking for an HGV driver with a current C+E (class1) license and valid driver CPC card.

We want someone who is as proud and committed to our brand as we are. You will be transporting feed or our livestock around the East Anglia region. Animal welfare is critical in this position, therefore previous relevant experience is desirable, however full training can and will be provided where necessary.  CPC training will be paid when necessary.

The job is Monday to Friday and you need to be flexible with your hours as there will be some early starts, however there will be no nights out.

We are looking for an ambitious and motivated Project Coordinator to work alongside our Engineering management team to support them in the delivery of some significant projects as we continue to grow our successful business.  You will be responsible for ensuring the correct controls are in place and that all activity complies with current legislation.

You will need to be organised and methodical in your approach to maintain our systems ensuring contractors have the correct documentation to work on site. You will also produce project reports to show progress of contractors/projects and help keep things on track.  

Your excellent stakeholder management skills will enable you to successfully liaise with different departments to ensure smooth running of projects, as well as effectively liaising with external contractors so as to ensure full compliance with agreed risk assessments and method statements.

You will ideally have engineering focused university level qualification (or equivalent) and previous experience within manufacturing or FMCG.
