Employee Relations Officer

Cranswick Convenience Foods – Milton Keynes
Permanent | Full-time

Are you ready to make a real difference in a fast-paced, people-focused business? At Cranswick Milton Keynes, we’re on an exciting journey of growth and transformation — and we’re looking for an Employee Relations Officer who’s passionate about shaping a workplace where people thrive.

This is more than just case management. As part of our dynamic HR team, you’ll be the go-to expert for managers on all employee relations matters, while also driving forward projects that improve colleague wellbeing, celebrate success, and build a fair and inclusive culture.

Why join Cranswick?

At Cranswick, we don’t just make award-winning food — we build careers. As ER Officer, you’ll:

  • Be trusted with impact – take ownership of ER casework and coach managers to be confident people leaders.

  • Grow your expertise – gain exposure to complex ER cases, employment law updates, and cross-site HR projects.

  • Shape positive change – lead initiatives in wellbeing, reward, recognition, and inclusion.

  • Progress your career – with a clear path to develop within HR, backed by CIPD training and mentoring support.

  • Join a values-driven business – we’re committed to becoming Europe’s largest cooked meat manufacturer, reaching Net Zero, and improving living standards in our local community.

What you’ll do

  • Act as first point of contact for all ER cases — investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, AWOL, and occupational health.

  • Coach managers to handle ER confidently, providing advice on UK employment law and company policies.

  • Monitor absence KPIs and highlight trends to drive improvements.

  • Partner with Occupational Health providers to ensure colleagues receive the right support.

  • Take ownership of site-wide HR projects in areas such as wellbeing, ED&I, and recognition.

  • Deliver training sessions to upskill managers and embed strong HR practice.

  • Champion continuous improvement in how we manage people and processes.

What we’re looking for

  • CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent experience).

  • Proven track record managing ER cases from start to finish.

  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law.

  • Excellent organisation, detail, and communication skills.

  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with confidence to influence managers.

  • Team player with the ability to inspire, motivate, and act as a role model.

  • A second language (particularly Eastern European) would be an advantage.

What’s in it for you

  • Competitive salary & benefits package.

  • Support with professional development and further CIPD training.

  • The chance to make a meaningful impact in a growing, values-led organisation.

  • Be part of a supportive, collaborative HR team where your ideas and input are valued.

This role is perfect for an HR professional who wants to step up, take ownership, and be part of a business where people and progress go hand in hand.
