Marc - Our Motivational Champion
I’ve realised that whilst I am no eco warrior, as an individual I can do more and should do more. I’m proud of the big projects we’ve been working on over the last 18 months which have had big impacts to our sustainability goals. However, the smaller projects are just as important because these small improvements are also what will collectively help us achieve our targets and make us a leading company when it comes to sustainability.
For others who are feel in a similar way, act now! If you need motivation, watch the Man v Earth short film by Prince EA! We are all busy, but if like me, you don’t want to tell future generations you did nothing to help then start acting now. Whether that means you actively become a Sustainability Champion in your own workplace, or you start sharing your ideas on change or you do that little bit more to help the environment outside of work, it’s a start and the more people that actively care and help, the more that can be achieved.
We have seen some huge benefits to the site here at Milton Keynes, we’ve reduced our food waste by an average of 8t per week which equates to a reduction of 24%. We’ve reduced the use of single use plastics by 262t and reduced our utilities usage by 15%. Our Sustainability Champions have also been taking our journey into the local community which is fantastically rewarding and brings home a real sense of wellbeing.
More importantly, the colleague engagement around sustainability which the Second Nature programme has given us has made more people aware of Cranswick’s targets, which means more people have the opportunity to become involved in whatever capacity they can.
