Spec­i­fi­ca­tion Technologist

JOB PURPOSE:

Cranswick Gourmet Bacon are looking for a Specification Technologist (all levels) to join our Technical team at our Sherburn site.

This is a key role supporting the management of product specifications, artwork, and technical data, ensuring everything is accurate, compliant, and delivered to required deadlines. You will act as a key link between Technical, NPD, Operations, and customer teams.

MAIN DUTIES:

Work Schedule - Monday - Friday 8am-4pm

Specifications & Systems

  • Support the end-to-end specification process across all products
  • Review and approve product specifications and product set-ups
  • Ensure all specifications meet legal and customer requirements
  • Maintain and improve specification systems and retailer portals

Project & Change Management

  • Support product launches, updates, and changes (recipes, specs, artwork)
  • Work to strict deadlines and ensure key milestones are achieved

Artwork & Compliance

  • Manage artwork approval processes
  • Ensure all packaging copy complies with legislation and customer standards

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a key contact for internal teams and customer specification teams
  • Attend and lead meetings, ensuring actions are completed
  • Build strong working relationships across departments

Audits & Documentation

  • Support internal and external audits
  • Maintain accurate, controlled, and audit-ready documentation
  • Manage TACCP, allergen risk assessments, and compliance records

Continuous Improvement

  • Support improvements to technical systems and processes
  • Assist with integration of new tools and reporting methods

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in a technical/specification role within food manufacturing (preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Good understanding of food safety, labelling, and compliance
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive and team-focused approach
