Site Technical Manager
We have an exciting new opportunity for you to join our site at Blakemans as a Site Technical Manager. This role will lead the Technical function and teams across both Blakemans Manufacturing and Services.
Purpose of the role- To ensure the safety, legality and quality of all products manufactured on site and in doing so ensuring that all objectives and procedures detailed within the Quality Manual are met and are compliant to the Cranswick Manufacturing Standard, BRC Global Standard for Food Safety and Retailer Codes of Practices, and where this is not achieved that corrective action, root cause analysis and preventative actions are agreed with the appropriate area managers / supervisors and actioned.
The key elements of the role are:
- Strong working relationships are expected across all internal and external contacts.
- Proactive approach to network and manage key technical customer contacts.
- Be conversant with the site strategy, technical strategy and Cranswick four strategic pillars (QVIP). Champion this within the department and the wider site as part of the senior leadership team.
- Provide management, direction and development for the team; ensure they are motivated, managing their workload, hitting deadlines and have the tools to complete tasks, eg training, resource, budget.
- Develop team succession, utilise and develop a pipeline of talent e.g Apprentices, Placement and Graduates.
- Help develop expertise across the site, fully understanding the processes and constraints, to continuously improve food safety, legality and quality compliance across the site.
- Coach operations, engineering, hygiene and QA teams to drive the site quality culture.
- Drive the Food Safety Culture and KPI performance of the site.
- Key stakeholder and member of the site Crisis Management Team and deputise for the Site Directors when required.
- Accountable for site Technical budgetary control.
- Operate at Group level, making a positive contribution in any relevant forums or working parties and projects.
- Accountable for the site HACCP and maintenance of the Quality Management System.
- Accountable for delivering technical elements of the stage and gate product development process.
- Accountable for attaining the desired result in 3rd Party and Customer audits and visits and to ensure that the site is prepared for all known visits and audit ready every day.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of current best practice and potential use of available technology using relevant benchmark operations. Propose and implement capital expenditure projects that benefit the department and site processes to aid continuous improvement.
- Be fully involved in process design, validation and implement any additional system requirements.
- To provide a flexible resource to the Site Director for any other reasonable duties.
- Any other responsibilities commensurate with the post. Any other reasonable requests made by the Directors
- Ensure that the function of the factory and employees are operating in line with Health and Safety requirements.
- Ensure that the Technical team, including the job holder, work in an Ethical manner with everyone that works or visits the site and that people are treated with respect at all times.
What We Look For:
- Food Safety L4 or equivalent trained
- HACCP L4 trained
- Degree educated or able to demonstrate relatable extensive industry experience
- Meat industry experience and management desirable
- Previous proven Technical Management experience working with retailers and customers
- Strong level of IT skills: Excel, Word etc
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong demonstrable leadership in shaping and nurturing teams
