Raw Material QA Technician
Cranswick Gourmet Sausage Co. (Lazenby’s) is our fast-paced sausage facility located in Hull. Using only the best cuts of British pork, fresh herbs and spices, Cranswick are the UK’s leading producer of gourmet sausages and burgers, supplying major retailers and foodservice outlets alike.
We currently have opportunities for a motivated individual with preferably food industry experience to join our busy Technical Team as a Raw Material QA Technician. This successful candidate will ensure all raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials, and incoming deliveries meet food safety, quality, legality, and company specifications before being released for production. The role supports compliance with HACCP, BRCGS, customer requirements, and relevant food safety legislation.
Hours - 4 on 4 off 06:00 till 18:00
Pay - £14.78 per hour
The main duties of the role includes:
- Conduct quality checks on incoming meat, ingredients, casings, and packaging materials.
- Verify deliveries against approved specifications and purchase orders.
- Check product temperatures upon receipt.
- Assess raw materials for appearance, colour, odour, texture, and overall suitability.
- Identify and report any non-conforming materials.
- Collect samples according to the site sampling plan.
- Perform routine quality assessments and basic laboratory testing where applicable.
- Submit samples for microbiological and chemical analysis as required.
- Monitor results and communicate any failures or trends.
- Ensure all incoming materials comply with food safety, legal, and customer requirements.
- Support HACCP and prerequisite programmes.
