Production Supervisor (Day Shift)
An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Production Supervisor to join Cranswick at our site in Wembley.
Job Purpose: The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production activities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This role leads shop-floor teams, ensures production targets are met, maintains compliance with health and safety standards, and drives continuous improvement.
Main Duties:
- Perform the various tasks required within the factory site to ensure the safety, legality and quality of all new and existing products produced, packed and supplied by the company.
- Overseeing and providing support for team leaders and line operatives in delivering daily production plan without compromising on Safety, Quality and Legality. This includes a good understanding of manufacturing systems & processes, ability to motivate, plan and prioritise workload, ensure adherence to procedures, Health & Safety and hygiene.
- Responsible for productivity and efficiency of your team in delivering production requirements.
- Ensure that you and your team always maintain a high level of housekeeping.
- Ensure daily Production requirements are met and deliver a weekly briefing to team.
- Encourage team performance through open and effective communication.
- Working in conjunction with team leaders in identifying skills gap and providing training needs.
- Ensure a team approach with regard to maintenance and hygiene of equipment and liaise and plan effectively with relevant departments.
- Ensure that all production activities are in conformance with the product specification, i.e. continuously manage the quality of the product and materials to comply.
Production & Operations
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to meet output, quality, and cost targets.
- Allocate labour and resources effectively across lines.
- Monitor production schedules and adjust plans to minimise downtime and delays.
- Ensure machinery and equipment are operated correctly and efficiently.
People Management
- Lead, motivate, and develop production operatives and team leaders.
- Conduct shift handovers, team briefings, and toolbox talks.
- Support training ( Core ) and skills development of team members.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company policies.
- Promote a strong safety culture and immediately address unsafe practices.
- Ensure GMP standards are maintained at all times.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure products meet quality standards and customer QAS.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Accurately complete production shift report.
Communication & Collaboration
- Liaise with Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Warehouse teams.
- Escalate production issues and risks in a timely manner.
- Contribute to operational meetings and performance reviews.
- To maximize productivity and efficiency in a high-Care and low -Care environment. Coordinating activities and tasks assigned to the team leaders within their various teams. You will liaise closely with Qat’s, dispatch, maintenance, and warehouse.
- Ability to understand needs of each line.
- Work closely with team leaders in resolving minor line issues.
Requirements, Experience and Person Specification:
- Group and site induction.
- Level 3 H&S or Cranswick equivalent
- Understanding and application of hazard identification and near miss reporting.
- Accident investigation training.
- Root cause analysis training.
- First line management training.
Key Skills:
- Basic Induction Training
- HACCP in - house
- Food Hygiene 3 Training
- Health & Safety 3 Training
- Min of two years in the food industry
- Experience within the food and chilled production.
- An excellent positive attitude towards work output, with a ‘can do’ approach.
- Good Communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good Numerical skills and ability to work in a logical and organized manner.
- Ability to lead a multicultural team.
- Intermediate Food Hygiene – as appropriate.
- Any other training specific to job description Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good understanding of production processes and KPIs.
- Strong organisational and decision-making skills.

Additional Information:
Working Hours: 40 hours a week – Monday to Friday 07:00 to 15:30.
