Production Shift Manager

Cranswick Gourmet Kitchen Operations team is looking for a confident, assertive and reliable Production Shift Manager, with a good working knowledge of manufacturing processes; familiarity with Health & Safety and Food Safety Legislation; excellent leadership skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.

You’ll need to be a hands-on people person who knows and likes to engage with your team, with teaching and mentoring skills in order to develop Team Leaders and key operating staff. You’ll need to be a great communicator and your presence on the floor will be known.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be fully responsible for the day to day running of your shift in the most cost effective manner, whilst complying with current customer/brand product specification, GMP, food hygiene and health and safety legislation, as well as identifying and leading operational improvement opportunities for the business.

The main duties of the role include (but not limited to):

  • Deliver the daily production plan on time and in full, ensuring high quality standards are implemented & maintained
  • Effective management of all resources onsite to achieve operational KPIs
  • Continuous Improvement of operations
  • Proactive management and mentoring to develop the team
  • Effective engagement with supporting departments to retail packing
  • Safeguard the health, safety and welfare of the team
  • Ensure we’re compliant with the standards of the world’s most demanding food companies
  • Succession planning and talent development

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience at Production Supervisor level or Production Management
  • Proven experience in FMCG or similar fast paced environment
  • An analytical and proactive approach to dealing with production related issues
  • Excellent communication, leadership and motivational skills
  • Experience of proactively controlling waste, downtime and dealing with performance loss issues
  • Level 4 or advanced qualification in Food Safety
  • Knowledge of HACCP and its application in chilled food manufacture
  • Lean Manufacturing experience or relevant qualification
