Pay­roll Admin­is­tra­tor (Part Time)

Shift Pattern: Mondays and Fridays (office hours) Flexibility around Easter and Christmas payrolls is essential.

An opportunity has arisen for a Payroll Administrator to join our evolving People Team as we strive to deliver effective, accurate and people focused HR solutions and payroll services.

As Payroll Administrator you will play fundamental role in ensuring the smooth administration of Time & Attendance and payroll processes across site, supporting both colleagues and managers with payroll queries in a positive and supportive environment.

What you’ll be doing

You will:

  • Maintain and manage the Time & Attendance system (Timeware) for approximately 1,100 employees, supporting line managers with overtime authorisation and attendance adjustments.
  • Managing a busy inbox ensuring that all adjustments and queries are actioned in line with payroll submission deadlines.
  • Administration of the T&A systems, including the ability to interpret and manage multiple shift patterns and rectify anomalies.
  • Ensure all benefits and allowances (e.g. Cycle Scheme, FLT payments) are accurately recorded in the payroll system.
  • Administer temporary pay rate adjustments for step-ups as required.
  • Respond to payroll queries in a professional and timely manner, resolving issues within the current or next payroll cycle or arranging same-day payments if necessary.
  • Calculate final payments for leavers.
  • Process statutory maternity payments, including communicating eligibility to employees and maintaining accurate records of start and end dates in line with data protection requirements.
  • Upload hours from T&A system once all anomalies are cleared down, ready to be sent to Group payroll.
  • Update and interpret data in Excel format, with the use of formulas, look ups and pivot tables.
  • Issuing SMP1 and SSP1 forms.
  • Liaise with group payroll regarding tax, pensions, and Sharesave schemes.
  • Liaise with finance regarding internal/external financial audits.

What we need from you

Essential

  • Minimum of 1 year payroll experience and a strong understanding of payroll fundamentals (tax codes, PAYE, NIC, statutory payments.)
  • Strong foundation in payroll administration
  • Advanced Excel skills, comfortable with pivot tables, look ups and formulas.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and have a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent planning, prioritising and organisation skills, and able to work independently.
  • Confident handling interactions with management teams and colleagues.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge of Time and Attendance processing and administration

Desirable

It would be advantageous for you to have experience working in the food manufacturing industry, particularly in environments with complex shift patterns.
