About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and detail-focused Packaging Materials Controller to support the effective planning and supply of packaging materials across multiple Cranswick Pet Products sites.
This is a key role within the business, ensuring materials are available to meet production demand while balancing cost, efficiency, and supplier performance. You will play an important part in supporting uninterrupted production and driving continuous improvement across the network.
Job Purpose
The Packaging Materials Controller is responsible for the effective planning, procurement, and supply of packaging materials across multiple manufacturing sites. The role ensures optimal availability, cost control, and supplier performance.
Main Duties:
- Develop and maintain packaging material requirement plans across all sites
- Ensure appropriate material levels to meet production demand while minimising excess and obsolescence
- Monitor and manage slow-moving and obsolete packaging materials
- Maintain accurate ERP/MRP data, including lead times, minimum order quantities, and safety stock levels
- Support coordination of packaging supply across multiple manufacturing locations
- Balance materials between sites to optimise working capital and reduce risk
- Work with suppliers to monitor performance against KPIs (OTIF, quality, cost) and escalate where necessary
- Support procurement activities including supplier onboarding and compliance requirements
- Monitor supplier lead times to ensure continuity of supply
- Identify and support cost-saving opportunities through optimisation, standardisation, and volume efficiencies
- Produce analysis on spend and usage trends to support business decision-making
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience in a similar planning, supply chain, or materials control role
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Ability to coordinate across multiple sites and stakeholders
- Flexibility to travel between sites (UK and occasionally overseas) and respond to supply issues when required
