Kitchen Chef (Kettles) | B Shift | Days | 4 on, 4 off
Location: Yorkshire Baker, Norton Grove Industrial Estate
Hugden Way, Malton, YO17 9NE
Opportunities have arisen for kitchen chefs to join our team in our Prep Area, working on day shift (6am-6pm). This is an opportunity for people who would like to have variety in their role and cook, using the kettles in our busy kitchens!
Main duties include (but not limited to):
- Under the guidance of the Area Manager, ensure that each product specification is followed, and any anomalies are reported immediately
- Demonstrate knowledge of recipes and recipe methodology on kettles and brat pans
- Setting of cooker programmers and delay timers
- Manage products through the manufacturing process in accordance with agreed technical, hygiene & quality standards
- Work efficiently to achieve daily production & cooking plan and communicate any shortfalls or problems in a timely manner
- Prepare and organise all materials for a recipe before starting to cook (ensure that everything is place) and visually check quality, report any defects
- Be able to take a viscosity reading using the Boswick meter and Viscosity plate
- Maintain full and accurate cooking and cooling records within agreed timescales
- Follow recipe methodology to hit correct yield, viscosity and quality requirements.
- Check that all materials needed are sufficiently available to fulfil plan demands.
- Maintain best hygiene practices when loading and unloading products in order to prevent cross contamination from occurring
- Complete all paperwork as instructed accurately and within specific time frames
Candidate requirements:
- Experience of working in a busy kitchen, ideally within a factory
- Good standard of English, both orally & written
- Food Hygiene certificate and basic understanding of health & safety
- Self-motivated, reliable with good timekeeping
- Basic numeric & literacy skills
