Junior Pig Nutritionist

Location: Hessle, East Yorkshire / Hybrid (remote with travel to company offices and farms – approx. 40%)
Contract Type: Full time, Permanent
Working Pattern: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week

About the Role

Cranswick is a leading UK food producer committed to quality, sustainability, and innovation. We are seeking a Junior Pig Nutritionist to join our Farming Division.

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the UK’s most progressive farming businesses, supporting the development and delivery of nutritional strategies across our pig production systems. The role offers a structured development pathway with full training and mentoring, enabling you to build technical expertise and industry knowledge within a supportive and forward-thinking team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visiting farms and advising on feed and nutrition
  • Design and formulate feed regimes aligned with business objectives and performance standards
  • Analyse and interpret production data, trial results, and on-farm performance metrics
  • Support and manage nutritional trials and research projects, including data collection and pig weighing
  • Interpret and review published scientific literature, research findings, and technical information
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide technical support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Engage with suppliers to review and assess new products, ingredients, and innovations
  • Ensure all activities comply with feed safety, legal, and industry standards
  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues, farms, and external stakeholders

About You

  • A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline such as Animal Science, Nutrition, Biology, Chemistry, or Veterinary Science
  • A strong interest in pig nutrition and its practical application within a commercial farming environment
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data, with strong attention to detail
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to a range of audiences
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage a varied workload
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
  • Willingness to travel regularly to farms and company sites (UK travel required)
  • Full UK driving licence
