Job Purpose:

Take responsibility for the operation of the slicing machine whilst working as part of a production team in the manufacture of products that exceed customer expectations whilst adhering to all required standards, meeting, and exceeding quality standards, achieving targets on time and in full, within budget behaving in a safe manner, ensuring Food Safety and maintaining hygiene standards.

Main duties include (but not limited to):

  • Arrive at workstation to commence slicing 15 minutes before start of shift
  • Operate just in time process ensuring material is available to minimise changeovers and downtime
  • Complete data entry and scanning of material in CMEX and ensuring effective returns
  • Programme Selection
  • Ensure log conditioning is to the correct standard prior to loading machine; including facing up of the logs.
  • Load slicing machine
  • Hand slice gripper ends to ensure low levels of waste are maintained, comply with PPE controls as identified in procedures relating task
  • Control product giveaway
  • Support Line leader in the loading and unloading of top and base web
  • Complete an effective handover to next shift
  • Maintain and adhere to Food Safety standards at all times
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices such as : Hand washing , PPE requirements. Changing procedures, Clean as you go

Requirements, experience and person specification (bullet points)

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred
  • Successful completion or willing to undertake training in L2 Food Safety and L2 Health and Safety Principles
  • Group and site induction.
  • Understanding of relevant risk assessments and trained as competent to safe working procedures.
  • Understanding and application of hazard identification and near miss reporting
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Forward thinking and planning skills

  • Attention to detail
