We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our established Finance team. This is a varied and rewarding role for a finance professional who enjoys taking ownership, working across a broad range of financial activities, and contributing to the smooth running of the finance function.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring the timely, accurate and effective management of financial processes across the business. Working closely with colleagues across the Finance team, you will be involved in treasury, banking, financial reporting, compliance, payroll accounting and month-end activities, providing dependable support and helping to maintain strong financial controls.
Location: Kenninghall and Eye
Key Responsibilities
- Manage BACS payment runs, supplier payments and treasury activities.
- Perform bank, payroll, VAT and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and support statutory compliance requirements.
- Post journals and support month-end and year-end accounting processes.
- Produce cashflow reporting and assist with financial reporting activities.
- Support payroll accounting and related balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with external audits and maintain accurate financial records.
- Support financial and environmental reporting requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes and controls.
- Provide support and cover for wider Finance team activities as required.
Skills & Qualifications required:
- Experience working within a finance or accounting environment - essential
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping – essential
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills - essential
- AAT qualified or studying towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA – desirable
- Experience of ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics NAV or Business Central – desirable
- Experience preparing VAT returns - desirable
- Experience of payroll accounting and balance sheet reconciliations – desirable
