Dry Goods Area Leader Monday-Friday

JOB PURPOSE: Supporting the Logistics Shift Manager to ensure the effective running of the Dry Goods Operation. Assisting and supervising the off loading, picking and forwarding of materials to the factory, also ensuring all bookings and system movements are completed to ensure stock accuracy and traceability, working in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, food safety legislation and quality standards specified by our customers. Supervising the control of all Dry Goods materials, labour and equipment held within the department. Ensuring an efficient, accurate storage and stock control operation is provided up to the point of distribution. Supporting the Logistics Shift Manager ensuring all materials are available , picked and ready for production to ensure no downtime incurred. Ensuring that all products are stored safely and labelled correctly and allergens are stored separately. Ensuring that the Dry Goods storage facility has a clean as you go policy and that GMP standards are of audit requirements at all times.

Main duties include :

  • Product Despatch: Responsible for the timely and accurate off loading of products and storage. o Picking of STR for departments and delivery to those departments complete with paperwork. o The booking in off all deliveries o Stock accuracy of all materials within the Dry Goods stores and other off site storage depots. o Picked and delivered in accordance with customer / site codes of practice · Stock Control: Ensuring that an efficient, accurate, storage and stock control operation is provided and managed on a daily basis.
  • Management of Dry Goods Team: Supervision and day to day management of the site based Dry Goods team. Continually evaluating working practices and performance to ensure the efficient operation of Dry Goods. Providing clear operational direction to Dry Goods team in order to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction, high safety levels and a cost effective service.
  • Contracted Independent Distribution Service: Constant contact with all third party storage providers to ensure all materials are brought back or stored and receipted in time for production plan. Responsible for establishing and maintaining a working relationship with all contracted independent storage warehouses. Timely, proactive and efficient communications to ensure service level to site is optimised.
  • Internal Auditing: Responsible for ensuring that the Dry Goods department is routinely operating best practice ethos. Ensuring procedures, practices, communications, stock control are routinely improved and developed. Ensuring that the stock stored and the environment within which it is stored and distributed takes place is in line with legislative requirements and adhering to customer specifications and codes of practice. Routinely checking all aspects of the dry goods function are following the appropriate path whilst information / data is recorded in an accurate and timely manner. Hygiene levels are monitored and addressed when required.
  • KPI’s: Monitor and report Dry Goods KPI’s. Identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary procedures for sustainable improvement.
  • Dry Goods Documentation: Ensure dry goods documentation including proof of deliveries / invoices / service levels, stock control information, product returns, cost of delivery disposal, routinely reviewed, completed and circulated on time with due diligence.
  • People: Effectively harness, motivate, develop and train the dry goods teams. Monitor training plans.

Requirements, experience and person specification :

  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in a Chilled Food Distribution Centre/Warehouse and/or logistics supervisory role essential·
  • Experience in picking and scanning systems
  • Familiar with computer based stock, Warehouse stock systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential (key contact for Logistics shift manager, customers, colleagues and suppliers)
  • Experienced in the supervision of staff
  • Be able to prioritise, manage deadlines and make decisions
  • Good problem-solving skills · Computer literate in MS Office
  • Ability to maintain records
  • Knowledge of HACCP
  • Clean driving license
  • Fork lift operating license: Reach Truck , Counter Balance ideally
