Development Chef
Cranswick Gourmet Sausage Co. (Lazenby’s) is our fast-paced sausage facility located in Hull. Using only the best cuts of British pork, fresh herbs, and spices, Cranswick is the UK’s leading producer of gourmet sausages, supplying major retailers and food service outlets alike. We are looking for a motivated Development Chef to join our team on a full time basis. The successful candidate will provide a customer facing resource within the NPD department to innovate and develop new, exciting products and play a major role in delivering NPD projects for our customers. Main Duties Include:
- Innovate and develop category and brief led concepts, ensuring all products meet customer and business expectations, in line with technical criteria and critical timelines
- To work with relevant business and external functions to proactively scope development opportunities to provide innovation and be part of presenting concepts to the customer to inspire NPD Briefs
- Play an integral part in Innovation Sessions and Food Safari’s
- Sample preparation for both internal and external presentations.
- Assist with cooking for internal and external presentations and present all products with accuracy, finesse and professionalism
- To build and maintain a relationship with customer personnel giving a consistent approach and point of contact
- To work within tight time scales as set by the critical path ensuring that products are delivered to the correct specification satisfying customer and business, commercial, nutritional and process development requirements
- To follow the NPD Process and be diligent at all times
- Have an awareness of commercials during development of concepts
- To work as an integral member of the NPD team networking with other internal departments, suppliers and the customer as required
- Play a role in testing the feasibility of products with the cross functional site teams
- Keep abreast of food trends
- Be an integral part of the full development process with focus on the concept and sample submission stages
- To demonstrate good housekeeping practices and ensure the kitchen is kept neat, organised and tidy at all times
Candidate requirements:
Qualifications:
- Degree in a related subject or similar
- Food safety Level 3
- Full, valid driving licence
Experience:
- 3 years’ experience of NPD processes
- Chilled food FMCG
- Working with change and high expectations
Knowledge:
- Computer literate
- Factory operations
