Business Unit Controller (Maternity Cover)
Provide effective, profitable, and progressive commercial management for the designated business unit.
Main duties include (but not limited to):
- Develop and manage the business unit’s sales ledger, driving profitable sales growth.
- Lead, manage, and develop a team of account managers and executives to deliver required performance.
- Establish close working relationships with NPD and category teams to drive innovation ahead of the market.
- Sustain and embed strong inter-site relationships across the business.
- Act as the first point of contact for account-related issues, managing queries promptly.
- Manage the dynamics of account relationships, including project management and supply chain initiatives.
- Support the creation and maintenance of product costings and customer costing models, identifying opportunities for increased profit.
- Manage cost price increases and cost deflation for the division.
- Ensure accurate forecasting and demand planning, including budget planning.
- Drive NPD and EPD initiatives to increase profit and sales.
- Optimise quality of service, business growth, and satisfaction wherever possible.
- Ensure effective communication and coaching within the team, including mentoring entry-level account managers.
Requirements, experience and person specification
- Previous experience in an FMCG environment
- Proven track record of commercial interactions with UK retailers
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Strategic thinking and commercial acumen.
- Logical and numerate with strong analytical ability.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel essential).
