Planning and Logistics Coordinator( Pig Supply & Logistics) — Hessle

Working Pattern: Monday – Friday, 40H / week
About the Role
To support the delivery of an effective and coordinated production plan as part of the wider Production Planning and Logistics Team.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across planning, logistics, data, and operations, this role contributes to ensuring pigs move efficiently through the production system from weaning through to slaughter, in line with factory demand, site capacity, and operational constraints.
The Production Planning Team is responsible for managing pig flow across the entire supply chain.
This role sits within that team and plays a key part in:
- Translating the overall plan into practical, day-to-day actions
- Supporting data accuracy and visibility
- Coordinating with stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery of the plan
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning Support
- Support the development and delivery of short-term and weekly production plans.
- Assist in coordinating Weaning allocations, Nursery and finishing movements and Site capacity.
- Ensure plans are accurately reflected and communicated to relevant teams.
Slaughter & Movement Coordination
- Work with the planning team to support slaughter allocations.
- Assist in coordinating pig movements between sites.
- Support the Logistics Manager with day-to-day coordination, including handling movement-related queries, making amendments to plans, and ensuring all relevant paperwork is accurate and up to date.
- Help ensure efficient use of space and minimise reactive movements.
Logistics Coordination Support
- Provide day-to-day support to the Logistics Manager to ensure smooth execution of planned movements.
- Assist with handling calls relating to transport and movement queries, making amendments to planned movements in response to operational changes and preparing and updating relevant movement documentation and paperwork.
- Ensure all updates are accurately reflected across planning systems and clearly communicated to relevant stakeholders.
Data Accuracy & Tracking
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date production data across systems.
- Support the tracking of Stock numbers, movements, and mortality.
- Highlight discrepancies and work with the team to resolve them.
Variance Awareness & Issue Escalation
- Monitor performance against plan and flag shortfalls, overstocks, and capacity pressures.
- Escalate issues early to the wider planning team to support proactive decision-making.
Stakeholder Communication
Act as a point of contact for Farm managers, Field teams, Internal departments, and external stakeholders.
- Ensure clear and timely communication of plans and changes.
Capacity & Flow Support
- Work with the wider planning team to monitor site capacity.
- Support actions to maintain steady pig flow across the system.
Team Contribution & Ways of Working
- Work collaboratively within the wider production planning team to deliver shared objectives.
- Support colleagues across logistics, planning, and production data functions.
- Contribute to a culture of accuracy, accountability, and proactive problem-solving.
- Share knowledge and support continuous improvement of planning processes.
About You
Essential:
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good Excel and data handling capability
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Understanding of pig production systems
- Experience in planning, logistics, or agriculture
Desirable:
- Exposure to production data or reporting systems.
