Lazenby’s in Hull Awarded Double A Grade in Meat Industry Standards

Cranswick’s latest meat industry inspection has seen the Lazenby’s site in Hull achieve a Double A grade – the first Cranswick site to achieve this score.

BRC Global Standard for Food Safety audit is an industry benchmark of compliance and the AA grading is a real achievement for the business.

This latest landmark follows the BRC Grade A certification retention at Cranswick’s Valley Park site in Barnsley in June. This marked the 100th consecutive highest outcome in what is believed to be a landmark achievement in the food industry and certainly within the meat industry.

That certification was significant as it was Cranswick’s 100th BRC Grade A audit outcome, a track record that stretches all the way back to 2005 covering multiple versions of the standard, and now includes several of our sites on unannounced audit. It is believed to be a unique achievement within the food industry.

The British Retail Consortium (BRC) has set food safety standards and industry benchmarks for the past 15 years. Since 2008 all sites across Cranswick have an outstanding record of Grade A awards, the highest benchmark, following rigorous auditing processes.

Andrew Caines, Group Technical Director for Cranswick, explained: “In the last 10-days across group we have dealt with four BRC audits and one TFMS audit, two of which were unannounced – this has been an extremely busy period of audit activity.

“What is excellent is that the sites involved have delivered 1 x BRC A grade (Delico), 2 x BRC AA grade (Lazenbys & CFF), 1 x BRC AA* (Norfolk), and 1 x TFMS Green (Sherburn) against new more stringent technical standards and at a time when the business is in full preparation for Christmas.

“We have now collectively achieved 107 consecutive BRC Grade A audits across group which is unprecedented and as a result of this fantastic record of sustained excellence we have been short listed in the 2015 Society of Food Hygiene & Technology Awards to be held at The Savoy Hotel on the 19th Nov.

“This continuing first-class track record could not have been achieved without the full support and commitment of our entire teams so it is an achievement that we can all feel proud that we and our teams played a part in delivering to the business.”
