Freedom Festival Launch Spectacular Line-Up to Celebrate 10th Anniversary

Hull’s Freedom Festival is shaping up to be the biggest event in the City of Culture’s calendar, after Executive Director, Jenny Howard-Coombes, exclusively launched this year’s jam-packed programme which will be played out during 1st – 3rd September.

Excited to be Headline Sponsors for the next 3 years, Cranswick are proud to have helped bring in over 100,000 visitors to Hull each year, and this year is expected to be no exception. Aptly coincidental that the 10th anniversary of this year’s Freedom Festival should coincide with Hull being named ‘UK City of Culture’, Andy Napthine, Group Marketing Controller said "Cranswick are really engaging with the wider community and schools throughout the Hull region this year as part of a unique project which will all be unveiled at our tent space during the festival. The Freedom Festival is one of the UK’s most important arts festivals and we are keen to support its evolution in the city of Hull”

With a consistent theme of ‘Freedom’ each year, inspired by antislavery figurehead William Wilberforce, this year’s programme promises to explore concepts of identity, knowledge, democracy, protest and responsibility. With over 200 different events, the city this year will open up even more venues and performance spaces than its predecessors. Mikey Martins, CEO and Artistic Director, revealed there will be an “exciting shift” as “new spaces are opening up in unexpected places” from shopping centres to new festival gardens, this year’s programme has the whole city centre to play with. Visitors can also expect gastro street food from Cranswick’s own Hog & Beyond team.
