Charity Golf Day

Cranswick’s bi-annual Golf Day has raised in excess of £40,000 for the KIDS charity – with all that money pledged to be spent in the Hull area. The 4th Cranswick Golf Day at Forest Pines on May 7th saw Cranswick’s staff, customers, suppliers and recruitment agencies together raise a staggering £40,250 for KIDS.

This takes the total raised from the four golfing events, plus additional money from employees running the London Marathon and the Great North Run in recent years, to £120,000 raised for KIDS since 2007 when it was nominated as Cranswick’s chosen charity.

Nick Mitchell, Trading Director for Fresh Pork, organises the bi-annual golfing event which includes a raffle and auction. He commented: “It’s a fantastic amount of money to raise. Everyone who attends the event is so generous and we are extremely grateful for everyone supporting us in our fundraising activity.

“We had 33 teams made up of a mixture of people from across the meat industry and everyone was so enthusiastic and supportive and helped us raise our record amount this year.

“Although KIDS is a national charity, all the money we raise stays locally. In 2012 we raised £30,000 and that money enabled a youth club to run in Bransholme for 2-years. Seeing the money spent on such projects makes our fundraising even more tangible and real. Well done and thank you to everyone.”
KIDS is a national charity with a 40-year history, working to enable disabled children and young people and their families to enjoy their lives. The charity works with children and young people from birth to the age of 25, and their families and carers, who are disabled with a physical, sensory or mental impairment, including mental health issues, which in interaction with social, attitudinal and environmental constraints creates barriers which hinder their full and equal participation in society.

Cranswick is a local company employing in excess of 6000 employees. All staff are encouraged to participate in charitable and local fund raising activities as part of the Group’s commitment to the communities in which it operates.
