About the role

To assist the Area Manager in ensuring the smooth running of the day –to- day operations in order to fulfil business/department needs and target’s, maintaining product safety and quality standards. Ensuring that customer requirements and expectations are achieved in line with product specifications.

Role/Responsibilities

  • Being the expert in automation to deliver world class product quality
  • Ensuring compliance of standardisation
  • Training and validating standards are adhered to ensure that asset reliability is maintained to the highest standards.
  • Bring equipment back to standard when identified.
  • Being responsible for a designated area, driving performance to meet, maintain and exceed quality, food safety, cost, service and safety measures.
  • Supporting/coaching the asset operators to operate to the right standards and resolve any technical issues they see
  • Providing operational control for all elements of running production equipment to include set-up, centre lining, maintenance and cleaning.
  • Monitoring and maintaining critical process input controls and measuring some of the product attributes
  • Completing Running and Stopped Preventative Maintenance along with Mechanical set-up assessments
  • Taking responsibility for good manufacturing practices with excellent hygiene and safety standards within the designated area.
  • Reporting directly to Area Manager but will work in sync with the Zone Maintenance Lead
  • Manage the efficient operation of the shift through Safe trained and capable team
  • Ensure that the target productivity level is achieved daily through the effective management of staffing levels and skills on the appropriate lines
  • Ensure that lost production time is kept to a minimum and to minimise the waste of raw materials, packaging and consumables
  • Deliver on key performance indicators including people, quality, health and safety, environment, cost optimization, customer service and project delivery
  • Ensure that Zone Operatives are accountable for their area of responsibility
  • Ensure clarity of role for asset operators, including assigning of tasks and providing feedback
  • Review and update the training requirements of the Asset operation
  • Responsible to ensure that the training needs of your department are understood, and your direct staff have the relevant training required to carry the tasks they are undertaking safely.
  • Ensuring effective engagement & participation with safety tours, committee meetings, risk assessment, accident investigations, hazard & near miss reporting, took box talks / safety focus. Ensuring all relevant safety inspections are undertaken and documented as required and any defects / issues are resolved in a timely manner. These include management safety inspections and line pre-start checks.
  • Coaching and mentoring your team through periods of change, especially the introduction of new equipment, or changes in layout.
  • Responsible for monitoring & reviewing staff behaviours, challenging unsafe behaviours / practices and correcting them.
  • To behave in a safe and appropriate manner at all times.
  • To assist during internal / external audits as required
  • Ensure that you understand and adhere to your personal responsibilities with regard to food safety, authenticity, quality and brand integrity.
  • Adhere to all Company Rules and Policies
  • To maintain high levels of work performance including attendance, timekeeping etc.
