Agricultural Welfare Advisor – Hessle, East Yorkshire (with regional travel)

Location: Based in Hessle with travel across Yorkshire, Lincs, Notts & Midlands
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, with flexibility required for travel

About the Role

Cranswick PLC farming division is looking to recruit a dedicated Agricultural Welfare Advisor to support the ongoing wellbeing, engagement, and development of staff working across our pig farming operations. This vital role focuses on building strong relationships with on-farm teams, supporting a positive team culture, and upholding the highest animal welfare standards through regular on-site visits and assessments.

Reporting to the Welfare and Training Strategy Manager, you will play a key role in embedding Cranswick’s values across farms in the above locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visit farms regularly to provide guidance and support to site teams
  • Observe animal welfare and promptly report any concerns
  • Build strong working relationships with staff, supporting a positive culture
  • Assess training needs and support delivery of relevant development programmes
  • Maintain up-to-date records of visits, reports, and actions
  • Promote biosecurity by adhering strictly to on-farm hygiene protocols (shower-in/shower-out)
  • Communicate openly and empathetically with staff to understand their needs
  • Help resolve day-to-day issues impacting welfare, training, or morale
  • Collaborate with farm managers, vets, and internal departments to drive high standards
  • Ensure all activity complies with Cranswick policies, assurance schemes (e.g. Red Tractor), and data protection protocols
  • Support the development of a robust, growing welfare and training team

What We’re Looking For

  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently
  • Experience or understanding of farm operations and livestock welfare
  • A proactive and empathetic approach to supporting teams
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on, farm-based environment
  • Willingness to travel extensively between sites
  • Full UK Driving Licence required
