Spec­i­fi­ca­tions Writer

Cranswick Gourmet Sausage and Kitchen are our fast-paced facility in Hull, using only the best cuts of British pork, fresh herbs and spices, supplying high-quality product to a number of market leading customers.

We are looking for a highly motivated Specifications Writer to ensure that all customer specifications, pack copies and artwork are accurately set up and key customer documentation is produced in line with critical path timescales and launch deadlines.

Shift: Monday-Friday; Office Hours

The main duties of the role include (but not limited to):

• Review copy artwork, in line with updated customer technical and labelling policies, and include all regulatory changes that will impact on the accuracy of the pack information and labelling
• Document procedures to ensure that internal and customer compliance is met and the relevant process development practices are adopted
• Reviewing raw material specification content to develop “Gold Standard” specifications for each raw material in order to improve compliance

• Ensure that all QAS’s and internal specifications which are in use are the correct versions and update and replace when required.

• Attend Changes, Launches and Delist Meetings to be kept up to date of all product information for the site.
• Maintain Dimaco Database, ensuring it is up to date and correct
• Supporting with customer visits and audits

• Ensure that procedures, allergen matrices HACCP and TACCP are up to date to maintain the integrity of the Food Safety Quality Management System documentation
• Validation of specifications and processes to identify synergies and scope for consolidation through a continuous improvement process

The successful candidate will:

• Knowledge of writing specifications for retailers in a food manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of legal labelling legislation and application

• Knowledge & experience of a variety of retailers' own web-based systems; Chilled food FMCG

• Food labelling qualification or equivalent experience
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with a high standard of literacy
