Section Manager (Slicing Nights)
Shift Pattern: Wed – Fri, 2 Saturdays per month
Working Hours: 5:45pm – 6:00am
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Section Manager to join our Slicing Department.
As a Section Manager you will lead the efficient and effective operation of your designated section, ensuring all processes, production activities, and product quality meet the highest standards in line with customer requirements, budget targets, and company policies. In this role, you will drive continuous improvement and deliver measurable results across key performance indicators, aligned with our five manufacturing pillars: Quality, Value, Second Nature, Innovation and People.

What Will You Be Doing?
As a Section Manager, you’ll take full ownership of your area, ensuring operational excellence and delivering outstanding results. Your key responsibilities will include:
Leadership & Team Development
- Manage and motivate all operatives and supervisors within your section.
- Foster teamwork and engagement to consistently exceed customer and company expectations.
- Coach, train, and develop your team, creating training plans, conducting annual reviews, and supporting multiskilling initiatives.
Operational Performance
- Achieve or surpass performance targets set by the High-Risk Department Manager.
- Ensure planned outputs are delivered efficiently, economically, and to the highest quality standards.
- Monitor KPIs and take corrective action where necessary.
Compliance & Safety
- Uphold Health & Safety, Food Safety, and GMP standards at all times.
- Ensure pre-production checks, hygiene, and housekeeping meet company and legislative requirements.
- Liaise with Technical and Engineering teams to maintain safe, efficient operations.
Resource & Process Management
- Plan and manage resources effectively, including holiday scheduling, agency requirements, and overtime approvals.
- Drive process improvements to deliver cost savings, efficiency gains, and quality enhancements.
- Ensure that paperwork is accurate and complete for your section at the end of each shift.
Communication & Collaboration
- Work closely with Line Supervisors, Engineering, HR, and other Section Managers to ensure smooth operations.
- Support team briefs, toolbox talks, and proactive engagement initiatives.
- Ensure exceptional internal and external customer service through timely deliveries and minimal returns.

What we need from you
- Proven experience managing teams within a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment (food industry preferred).
- Strong knowledge of continuous improvement principles and lean manufacturing tools.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver cost control, quality management, and efficiency improvements.
- Excellent understanding of Health & Safety and Food Safety standards, including HACCP.
- IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent) and Level 3 Health & Safety certification.
- Skilled in risk assessment, accident investigation, and hazard reporting.
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage teams and interact effectively with customers.
