Site Technical Manager — Worsley
An exciting opportunity to join the Technical team at Cranswick Continental, this role will suit someone with
a strong work ethic, a desire to learn and the ability to thrive in a fast paced and results focussed
environment. This role is in the Continental division, this role will be based from our new production site in Worsley, Greater Manchester.
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 8:30am- 17:00pm
What does the day to day look like for this role?
Responsible for assuring the safety, legality and quality of all products manufactured on the site and ensuring that the objectives and procedures detailed in the Quality Manuals are met, and to take appropriate corrective action where this is not achieved.
To provide technical input into product and process development in order to maximize product yield and quality within the limits of the agreed product specification.
To keep the company up to date on all appropriate technical developments.
Key Duties
- Supervision and day to day management of the Technical, QA and Hygiene Departments
- Coaching, development and training of all assistant technical manager and Technical Compliance Manager
- Maintaining detailed knowledge of all departmental working procedures and specifications.
- To manage the food safety plan, legality and quality audit function for the site. Where non-compliance is identified to deliver corrective action, and for verifying that this action has been effective.
- To ensure that systems of traceability are correctly operated at each stage of manufacture.
- To develop a working relationship with all external technical contacts, with regard to suppliers, customer and enforcement agencies.
- To deliver the technical business plan in line with the Technical Strategy.
- To ensure that the company maintains compliance with the BRC standard and all other customer COP’s.
- To oversee that departmental filing systems are maintained to an acceptable standard so that prompt retrieval of historical data is achieved.
- To oversee all customer complaints in a prompt and efficient manner, and to instigate investigation and corrective action which results in a long-term reduction in complain levels.
- To oversee implementation of sampling plans to assure the safety, legality and quality of all raw materials, work in progress, finished product and the working environment.
- To develop and maintain the site Food Safety Plan (HACCP).
- To update the site management team on Technical KPI’s and relevant future considerations in site management meetings.
- To be involved with concept meetings for intended development projects to review the safety of the products being presented to our customers.
Role requirements
- Manufacturing of products, with cooking , cooling process
- Customer facing and experience with main retailers(Tesco, Aldi, Morrisons, M&S etc)
- Worked on sites with high technical standard , BRC AA+/PIU Blue etc etc
- Experience of building a team and can develop people
