Shift Manager

We are looking for a Shift Manger , to work at our Lodge Farm Site  

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role will provide day to day leadership and direction of shift operatives, and also coordination and engagement of stakeholders in the operation including, but not limited to Engineering, Technical, Supply Chain (incl. warehouse) and NPD.

Key deliverables expected are:

• The shift operatives leave work in the same condition they arrive

• The shift produces safe product for our customers, right first time, in a clean and controlled environment

• The shift achieves the above, at the lowest possible cost

Main duties include (but not limited to):

• Ensure compliance with all business process and procedures

• Ensure the operational bibles (the plan and the specification) are followed

• Ensure the correct labour (qty. and skill level) is deployed

• Ensure that GMP and site standards are maintained and improved

• Effective management and escalation of downtime and sub-optimal line speeds

• Encourage, coach, develop and where necessary discipline

• Yield management, reporting, and improvement

• Close shift complaints and NCRs adequately and in a timely manner

• Effectively communicate operational matters

• Work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure the shift has the skills available to meet business needs. This includes recruitment

Requirements, Experience and Person Specification:

• Manufacturing background. Preferably in food, pet food or FMCG

• Shift Manager or Team lead / supervisory experience

• HACCP L2

• Awareness of BRC

• IOSH Managing Safely

• Some awareness of CI tools and techniques with demonstrated outcomes

• Credible, and therefore able to persuade and influence

• Can do attitude. Seeks a solution

• Communicates well and builds agreement and cross functional relationships

• Honest and empathetic with a sense of perspective

• Team player. We win together and lose together

• Leads the culture in a positive way

• Prioritizes control of process and excellence in routine

• Open to change and willing to learn

• Very comfortable with ownership and accountability
