QA Supervisor
An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a QA Supervisor to join the team at our Wembley site.
Job Purpose:
Monitor the safety, legality and quality of all the products produced by the factory ensuring all agreed specifications and standards are met.
Main Duties:
- To lead, motivate and manage the QAT team in monitoring and evaluating product and processing systems and factory practices to ensure agreed standards of quality and food safety are achieved.
- Monitor quality systems on factory floor and carry out quality checks as necessary.
- Be the first point of contact with the QAT’s in dealing with day-to-day raw material and quality issues with production and report to the Quality Manager
- Manage and organise the allocation of workload, weekly rota within the QAT’s team.
- Issuing out Work Schedules to QAT’s and monitor to make sure they are completed on timely manner and handover to QA manager once completed.
- Have good understanding of different LIMS interfaces. Take ownership of external lab sampling / submission queries. Ensure LIMS entries are accurately logged by QAT.
- Regularly monitor external lab test results and initiate actions as required.
- Assist QA Manager in investigations and identifying root causes for product/ environmental test failures.
- Assisting the Quality Manager in the maintenance, designing / updating of factory-based paperwork, and QMS folders where required - following new product launches, updates and reviews.
- Assist Paperless SME in updating QA records on paperless system.
- Monitoring of Controlled documents on factory floor and making sure they are collected and filed away in orderly fashion by QAT’s from respective circuits on daily basis.
- Carry out corrective action following internal non-conformances and assist QA Manager in closure of any external Nonconformances.
- Assist in investigations of foreign bodies, customer complaints, site non-conformance and raise Supplier NC’s for non-conforming products and packaging.
- Responsible for performance monitoring, appraisals of QAT team, upskilling and support where needed. Support and conduct internal investigations as needed.
- Occasionally step-in to cover absence of QAT’s.
- Actively involved in any 3rd Party and retailer / customer / Local Authority audits as required.
- Manage effective communications internally with all departments to ensure all the technical needs are met.
- Liaise with supplier on Cofa / Coc, life extension etc request where needed.
- Responsible for ensuring various technical trackers e.g. Hold & Release, Chemical analysis, RM samples etc information logged by QAT’s are correct and always UpToDate.
- Responsible for arranging items to send for external calibration as required and updating the certs and information on paperless system.
- Organise Validations, write reports for the audits and validation and guide QATs where required.
- Support any ad hoc project work as required within the technical department.
Auditing:
- Ensure all internal audits are carried out as outlined as per internal audit schedule, such as CCP Audit, products and processes, traceability, mass balance to ensure compliance with Katsouris Brothers procedures and standards and drive improvement.
- Ensuring site Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards are maintained throughout the factory.
- Carry out GMP and Fabrication audits when needed and verification/ closure of NC’s raised.
Training:
- Train new QAT’s staffs all aspects of quality, safety and legality monitoring and carry out assessment.
- Assist the Quality Manager with the training of new process and quality systems paperwork for Factory Personnel as and when needed.
Requirements, Experience and Person Specification:
- Food Safety Level 3
- HACCP Level 3 preferred but not mandatory
- Good understanding of English, both written and verbal
- Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management and colleagues within a multicultural workforce.
- Good numerical, organisational and record keeping skills.
- Good computer skills and able to work on Microsoft office suites and WMS software.
- Flexible and positive attitude towards work.
- Quick Learner, high level of vigilance and good time keeping at all times.
- Good team management skills.
- Able to follow instruction and show initiative where needed.
- Physically fit to carry out duties involving lifting, carrying, twisting, bending, stretching, reaching etc.
