Qual­i­ty Assur­ance Technician

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Quality Assurance Technician to join the team at our Wembley site.

Job Purpose:

Monitor the safety, legality and quality of all the products coming into and produced by the factory ensuring all agreed specifications and standards are met. Sample all incoming raw material and finished product and maintain accurate records off all relevant data.

Responsibilities

Production:

  • Carrying out a Quality Control circuit in both the low – risk and high – risk factories as appropriate.
  • Quality checks on all incoming raw materials, ensuring the raw materials are within specification.
  • Collect raw material samples for chemical and microbiological analysis for positive release.
  • Distribute date code and process control sheets.
  • Follow up any raw material or quality issues with production and technical.
  • Report any raw material issues to technical.
  • Assist with resolution of any microbiological or hygiene non – compliance in the factory.
  • Carry out start up checks on the check-weighers and metal detectors before production commences.
  • Monitor all on-line sheets. Deviations out of specifications to be recorded and reported to the relevant department manager.
  • Monitor batching up of recipes with the on – line team leaders.
  • Monitor and record finished product weights checks for all products in line with on – line checks.
  • Monitor and record all product and equipment temperatures from raw materials, pre-process, post-process, final packed products and distribution – as relevant. Deviations from specifications to be reported to the relevant department manager.
  • Motivate the team and encourage team performance through open and effective communication.
  • To assist in training all new QC staffs and ensure that they are trained in all aspects of quality monitoring.
  • Assist with the training of Metal Detectors and Check-weighers for Factory Personnel.
  • Assist with the training of new process and quality systems paperwork for Factory Personnel.

Auditing

  • Carry out the daily/weekly/monthly glass and hard plastic audits.
  • Carry out daily knife integrity checks.
  • Carry out daily scale checks.
  • Carry out daily temperature probe checks.
  • Carry out monthly fridge temperature audits.
  • Carry out daily checks on the dilutions of the sanitising solutions.
  • Carry out daily atmospheric checks.
  • Carry out monthly water & hand facilities audits.

Food Safety and Hygiene:

  • Comply with the company food safety and hygiene policies and procedures at ALL times.
  • Correctly storing goods and raw materials within the factory and/or warehouse.
  • HACCP as appropriate.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Training as appropriate.

  • Good understanding of English, both written and verbal
  • Able to communicate effectively with management and colleagues within a multicultural workforce
  • Good numerical, organisational and record keeping skills
  • Able to work quickly and methodically and maintain a high level of concentration at all times
  • Able to follow instruction and show initiative where needed
  • Quick Learner and mechanically minded
  • Flexible and positive attitude towards work
  • Physically fit to carry out duties involving lifting, carrying, twisting, bending, stretching, reaching etc.
