ProdÂuct Developer
An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Product Developer to join Cranswick at our site in Wembley.
Job Purpose:
To deliver NPD projects for the customer base from concept to launch ensuring these meet both the customer and company expectations, whilst satisfying all relevant technical criteria, leading to a timely and faultless successful launch, supported by the relevant site functions.
Main Duties:
- Work with the Development team to deliver new concepts / projects in line with the brief.
- Manage development projects from brief by site NPD controllers through to launch.
- Set critical timings and ensure all project aspects are delivered as specified satisfying customer and business, commercial, nutritional and process development requirements.
- Ensure the product development process is followed and that each stage is completed, documented and communicated accurately through to key stakeholders.
- Play a major role in packaging development.
- Work up concept samples in conjunction with the NPD team for internal and external presentations ensuring recipe costs are within target parameters.
- Input all required product material in written customer presentations ensuring this is executed accurately and with fineness.
- Attend customer presentations as required.
- Play an active role in customer visits / pre-production / launches where appropriate.
- Ensure that launch packs are updated as required and signed off by appropriate staff prior to launch by BRC and company policies with the support of the NPD Technologists.
- Support the site teams in carrying out an internal risk assessment to ensure that all aspects of safety, legality and product quality are being met by the company within the current manufacturing procedures.
- Attend regular NPD meetings and ensure effective communication of all relevant project information to factory functions.
- Work with relevant site functions to source raw materials, requesting and reviewing specifications to ensure compliance with company and customer objectives.
- Effectively and efficiently hand over all development projects to site process development teams.
- Ensure all product claims are effectively validated.
- To provide input to site HACCP meetings when required.
- Organise and attend factory trials / pre-production runs in conjunction with site process development teams.
- Carry out post launch reviews in conjunction with relevant site functions.
- Demonstrate good housekeeping practices at all times.
Requirements, Experience and Person Specification:
General Attainment & Training
- Food Technology degree (or similar)
- All core training and mandatory procedures
- All relevant site/area policies, procedures & processes (including customer specific requirements)
- Level 3 or 4 Food Safety certificate
- Full driving license
- Computer literacy
Job Related Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Previous management experience in an NPD function.
- Strong project management skills.
- Experience with retailer NPD systems.
- Ability to interact with customers.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
