Materials Scheduler

Cranswick Gourmet Sausage Co. (Lazenby’s) is our fast-paced sausage facility located in Hull. Using only the best cuts of British pork, fresh herbs and spices, Cranswick are the UK’s leading producer of gourmet sausages and burgers, supplying major retailers and foodservice outlets alike.

The Role:

Customer service levels and production costs can be impacted severely if we do not have the necessary stock in place. This role will ensure that the production plan can be met through the timely availability of materials required in the manufacturing process, whilst minimising waste incurred through overstocking. To do this you will need to form a strong relationship with your fellow schedulers and the operational team.

Main duties include:

  • Analyse stock levels and production requirements to work out when shortfalls in stock will occur and therefore when replenishment is needed.
  • Arrange transfer orders when calling stock from external customers.
  • Place orders for stock deliveries with the suppliers and confirm delivery schedules.
  • Ensure order schedule is maintained on NAV.
  • Confirm delivery schedule with Intake team and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Escalate to line manager if there are any supply issues.
  • Monitor life of stock to ensure that all materials are used within life or that the correct concession process is being followed.
  • KPI reporting of availability, obsolesce and waste – daily, weekly and monthly
  • Escalate to the line manager if there are any supplier performance issues.
  • Work with planning team to highlight any significant forecast changes and ensure that this is communicated internally and externally in good time.
  • Ensure that new ingredients are ordered and available in line with launch plans.
  • Holiday and sickness cover for Production Schedulers and line manager.
  • Engage and promote the Continuous Improvement culture
  • Be conversant with four strategic pillars (QVIP). Champion this within the department and the wider site
  • Adhere to all rules, processes and procedures in relation to the work
  • This is a factory-based role and so factory rules must be followed
  • Liaise closely with production, suppliers, purchasing and logistics to ensure efficiency, productivity and minimum downtime

Qualifications

  • Group and site induction
  • Food safety Level 2
  • H&S Awareness Level 2
  • Maths & English GCSE A*-C or equivalent
  • Working towards level 3 CIPS or relevant qualification – desirable but not essential
