Materials Planner
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Materials Planner to join our Supply Chain Team, here at Yorkshire Baker.
The main purpose of this role is to manage the supply of all production raw materials into the factory to meet the production plans and schedules. You will maintain all master data ensuring that the materials planning system is fully up to date with the latest information and runs smoothly.
Main duties include (but not limited to):
- Liaise with the production planner to obtain and input the latest production plans into a materials planning system.
- Create and maintain MRP data in the materials planning database and make sure the systems are updated to ensure that they are aligned.
- Create and raise purchase orders that meet the latest production requirements
- Create and develop relationships with factory departments ensuring smooth flow of information.
- Develop good working relationships with our supplier base and chase overdue orders and deliveries
- Provide ingredient forecasts on demand to suppliers
- Liaise with the NPD team about new products and potential delists, ordering trial ingredients wherever needed
- Give advice, support and training to other team members
- Monitor best before dates, apply for shelf-life extensions and report on materials at risk daily.
- Ensure that communication is a key strength of the team, constantly looking at how we can improve on this as well as our processes into our internal customer base
- Ensure that there is reactive planning to incorporate fluctuations in production volume
Candidate requirements:
- Strong communication skills internally and externally via phone and email
- Experience using EXCEL is preferred
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good team player with the ability to collaborate well with others
- Quick learner and flexible
