HR Advisor/​Senior HR Advisor

Cranswick Gourmet Sausage Co. (Lazenby’s) is our state-of-the-art facility located in Hull. Using only the best cuts of British pork, fresh herbs and spices, Cranswick are the UK’s leading producer of gourmet sausages and burgers, supplying major retailers and foodservice outlets alike.

This is a great opportunity for a knowledgeable HR Advisor, that is looking for an opportunity to gain experience in the Food Industry to push their career to the next level. The role is to provide comprehensive and professional HR support to the HRM and all Gourmet Sausage and Gourmet Kitchen employees, to proactively support line-managers and employees, to value to the delivery of the HR and business objectives.

The main duties of the role include (but not limited to):

  • Provide day-to-day HR support and advise all managers on matters such as grievance, discipline, absence management, maternity, paternity, flexible working etc.
  • Offer coaching with investigation, discipline, grievance and counselling meetings in a timely manner
  • Support the management team in the leadership of organisation, to ensure the development of skills and knowledge in all areas of people management
  • To provide holiday and absence cover for the HR Assistant, HR Administrator and Recruitment and Apprenticeship Programmes Co-ordinator.
  • To initiate and manage HR projects as assigned, identifying situations which have a people impact and influencing decisions made to improve site engagement.
  • With guidance ensure that the reward and recognition policies and practices meet the needs of the customer groups and are implemented in a fair and equal fashion.
  • Support Head of HR/ HRM to maximize the effective deployment of performance management processes so to enhance individual and business performance.
  • Develop expertise in all areas of employee relations, legislation and guidance (including ACAS code of practice) and best practice.
  • Help develop effective KPI’s to improve business performance.
  • Ensure consistency in terms of HR management, with process and outcomes across the site.
  • Management of AWOLs, short term absence and long-term absence, liaising with occupational health supplier in order to reduce absenteeism for escalated cases.
  • Adhere to all rules, processes and procedures in relation to the work.
  • Support Recruitment and Engagement Officer with staffing levels, advertising, job fairs when required.

The successful candidate will (but not limited to):

Requirements, Experience and Person Specification:

  • CIPD level 5 or studying towards level 7
  • Experience with coaching tools and techniques
  • Previous experience in working within an FMCG environment preferred but not essential
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness
  • Resourceful, problem-solving aptitude with excellent organisational skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, and comfortable learning new technical systems as needed
  • Evidenced experience in building effective relationships at all levels within a business
  • Innovative with a proven track record of working proactively
  • Energy, execution, and accountability in all activities
  • Flexible to meet business needs
  • Experience in recruiting for salaried and weekly paid roles
