Job Purpose:

We are seeking skilled and dedicated Engineers to join our team at Cranswick Milton Keynes, where you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our factory equipment. Whether you’re performing electrical or mechanical maintenance, installation, or repair work, your contributions will be essential to keeping production running smoothly and meeting our high standards for safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform installations, maintenance, and repairs on production equipment across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, ventilation, and refrigeration systems.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental guidelines, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain high standards across workshops, toolboxes, and engineering areas.
  • Respond swiftly and effectively to breakdowns, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to minimize disruptions.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Shift Manager and Operations Department to ensure minimal production downtime.
  • Ensure that all engineering work aligns with technical specifications and food safety standards.
  • Oversee apprentices and contractors when required, providing mentorship and guidance.
  • Proactively manage and prioritize work orders to ensure timely completion.
  • Take part in training and development to progress through the Engineer levels and advance your career.
  • Experienced Engineer with the ability to handle complex tasks, oversee others, and offer suggestions for improvements.

Technical Skills & Experience:

  • BTEC/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering or similar.
  • Knowledge of electrical fault-finding and mechanical fitting.
  • Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Higher Level Apprenticeship (desirable).
  • Several years of engineering experience, ideally within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Competent electrical fault finder.
  • Ability to explain work and production processes to others.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001).
  • Follow correct procedures for safety, including risk assessments, using PPE, and adhering to lock-out/tag-out protocols.
  • Maintain food safety standards to ensure products are safe and meet customer quality expectations.
