Graduate/​Junior Project Engineer

The main purpose of the role

  • The role of the project engineer is to assist in the planning, execution and completion of Engineering Projects and provide support to Engineering Manager and to ensure that the projects are completed on time, to the required standard and within the budgeted amount.
  • To actively seek and identify cost effective improvements to site assets and equipment, improving efficiency and reliability.
  • To deal with the Supplier and contractors.
  • To carry out the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) of new machine as per company’s standard at the manufacturer site.
  • To keep an eye on Site Operations and maintenance challenges and find solution in accordance with the budgeting.
  • Providing administrative support to the Site Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities - Duties will include:

  • To abide by and promote health and safety, ensuring all approved company safety policies and processes and other relevant legislation is followed.
  • Prepare the project feasibility, scope, drawing and to liaise with supplier to get the quote as per the requirement.
  • Complete relevant documentation as requested.
  • To execute the Project from Start to handover to closeout in a safe and timely manner.
  • Managing project scope by identifying variations and estimating cost and timing impacts.
  • Ensuring project financial performance through cost control, forecasting, and maintaining invoices.
  • Project planning to ensure on time delivery and co-ordination of internal and external resources.
  • Working closely and communicating well with the internal team to ensure that other departments can effectively support projects.
  • Full administrative support to Senior Engineering Manager.
  • To carry out the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) of machines and equipment at Supplier sites prior to the delivery of the equipment.
  • To develop the Safe Working Procedures (SWP) of the equipment.
  • Preparing the required performance reports.
  • Coordinating paperwork as per the Standards and for Audits
  • Liaising with contractors and suppliers, booking in site visits for contractors.
  • Completing follow-up actions from daily and weekly meetings
  • Maintain the Engineering budget and correct Ordering Procedure (NAV)
  • Filing of all paperwork, computer, and general administration duties.

Key Competencies

  • Hands on experience on food manufacturing machines specifically tray sealer like Proseal & PA, conveyors systems, mixers, can openers, oil depositors, Vertical Baggers, Metal Detectors Combi units and Labelling and date coding machines.
  • The ability to communicate on phone and email to outside suppliers confidently to ensure we get the correct parts at the right time and the right price.
  • Able to research for alternatives that give the same performance or equivalent standard.
  • Develop the role and take pride and ownership of project.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties and as and when required following consultation between yourself and management.
  • Undertake any training that may be required or desirable.
  • To be able to listen to all persons, both senior managers and colleagues and take on board comments they have made and if required to act on them.
  • To be able to obtain greater knowledge of the production methods, equipment and products processed and produced by the site.
  • The ability to take and implement changes to policies and procedures that will change with different products.
  • To have the correct communication skills that accompany level of the job

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of carrying out, Risk assessments, Pre-Delivery inspection and Safe Working Procedures.
  • Experience in dealing with Contractors and to deal with their H&S requirement.
  • Analytical and mathematical mind
  • Organizational competencies to keep Projects on track.

  • Excellent Communication skills and proficient in written English. Able to communicate at all levels.

Qualification

  • A Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Project Management or a related field (STEM)
  • Preferably, 2 Year Experience in FMCG industry
  • Knowledge of typical project management tools and processes.
  • Knowledge of CAD and Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, and power point). SAP will be plus point.
