Factory Technical Manager (Interim 12 – 18 Months)
Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday
Working Hours: 8am to 5pm, flexibility around business needs required
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Factory Technical Manager to support our Technical Team for a 12-18 month period.
As Factory Technical Manager, you will play a leading role in the Technical team managing the QA function. You will develop, review and deliver departmental objectives by coaching, guiding and supporting the QA team and wider Technical function.
You will:
- Be responsible for the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Quality Assurance Systems and site accreditations and for fulfilling the company’s legislative and regulatory responsibilities.
- Ensure that the internal and external audit systems are continually improved and developed to ensure that the site is routinely operating best practice ethos. Ensuring that the products produced and the environment within which manufacturing takes place is in line with legislative requirements and adhering to customer specifications.
- Assist in the process for auditing, reviewing and updating the HACCP plan to ensure that critical control points throughout the site are routinely controlled, monitored, audited and challenged.
- Assist with monitoring and reporting technical KPI’s within your area of responsibility, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate strategies and procedures to harness sustainable improvement.
- Ensure technical documentation including, Quality Assurance Sheets and Microbiological Plans, are accurate, routinely reviewed and updated reflecting the agreed manufacturing process and are routinely completed on time with due diligence.
- Management of a product and environmental microbiological screening programme. Interpretation of microbiological results and where required advise appropriate action including liaising with third party contractors, hygiene and production to agree on a relevant plan of action and ensure this is undertaken.
- Effectively motivate, develop and train the QA teams through meaningful training plans and assisting in the training of operational colleagues and spreading the message of quality assurance and environmental hygiene throughout the business.
- Assisting the Technical team in the effective coordination, preparation and management of site visits and audits by Customers, EHO’s and Trading Standards

What we need from you
Essential
We’re looking for someone with strong leadership skills who can develop, support and motivate a team with prior experience managing a team within the Technical function. You will have experience leading both internal and external audits and customer visits. The ideal candidate will have qualifications in Auditing, HACCP and Food Safety. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain high grade audit results and accreditation.
