Mul­ti­skilled Engineer

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Multiskilled Engineer to join Cranswick at our site in Wembley.

Job Purpose:

  • To Undertake the maintenance tasks, require strong diagnostics ability, and identify root cause and bring the equipment back in to service as quickly as possible.
  • To actively seek and identify cost effective improvements to site assets and equipment, improving efficiency and reliability.
  • Provide technical expertise for electrical and mechanical maintenance of plant equipment whilst carrying out reactive and PPM using electrical, control system and mechanical engineering skill set.
  • To carry out contractor management, using the contractor management software and to carry on updating it as per need.
  • To be able to carry out PUWER assessment of new plant machinery and maintaining its records.
  • Able to carry out the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) of new machine as per company’s standard at the
  • To keep an eye on Maintenance department requirement and arrange the resources at the optimum level in accordance with the budgeting.
  • Liaising with suppliers and arrange the spares, material and other resource required by maintenance department at the most acceptable way without compromising on quality.
  • Maintaining stores and its areas, properly stocked and in Audit ready.
  • Providing administrative support to the Site Engineering Manager and the engineering team.

Main duties include (but not limited to):

  • To abide by and promote health and safety, ensuring all approved company safety policies and processes and other relevant legislation is followed.
  • To carry out PPM maintenance and record all details of inspection electronically.
  • To carry out daily checks in and around the workshop areas daily/weekly/monthly in accordance to company policy.
  • Comply with working method operating procedures.
  • Complete relevant documentation as requested.
  • Ensuring work areas are always kept clear and that unused or waste material are returned to stores or properly always disposed of.
  • Ensure work is completed in a safe and timely manner and where required details of work carried out and faults found are reported to the relevant supervisor and recorded on CMMS.
  • Full administrative support to Maintenance Department and Senior Engineering Manager.
  • To carry out the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) of machines and equipment at Supplier sites prior to the delivery of the equipment.
  • To carry out the PUWER assessment once the machine is on Site.
  • Maintenance of required paperwork for contractors visiting the site, able to work on.
  • Completing follow-up actions from daily and weekly meetings.
  • Responsible for the Stores areas, stock / parts control, and consumables.
  • Liaising with Suppliers and getting best price.
  • Maintain the Engineering budget and correct Ordering Procedure (NAV)
  • Generating and maintaining Stores databases.
  • Filing of all paperwork, computer, and general administration duties.

Requirements, experience and person specification:

  • Experience of fault finding and use of PLC’s.
  • Experience of working with in a heavy industrial/ automated environment
  • Mechanical/Electrical engineering fault- finding and repair.
  • Knowledge of carrying out PUWER assessment, Risk assessments, Pre-Delivery inspection and Safe Working Procedures.
  • Use and good knowledge of Microsoft Packages i.e. Excel, Word.
  • Experience on CMMS like Shire system, work-mate and M-Com.
  • Experience in dealing with Contractors and to deal with their H&S requirement.
  • Analytical and mathematical mind.
  • Organizational competencies to keep entire engineering team on track.
  • Ability to adapt to change promptly.
  • Excellent Communication skills.
  • Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a FMCG -driven environment.

Qualifications:

  • City & Guild or NVQ level 3 or equivalent within an Electrical Engineering/Technical discipline.
  • 18th edition wiring regulation.
  • Experience in FMCG industry.
