About the role

To manage the technical resource assigned to the customer facing Category Management team and in doing so manage the company’s technical interface with our customers for the management of NPD and other technical projects under the areas of responsibility for the relevant product categories.

To work with NPD in the preparation and attendance of all trials and first production runs. To manage supplier development and approval in compliance with the company's procedures. This will require overseas travel.

Role/Responsibilities

  • To have detailed knowledge of the capabilities of our suppliers and their product specifications.
  • To manage the food safety, legality, quality and GMP audit function for the approval of all new suppliers and their products. This shall be done in accordance with the approval procedures agreed with the Site Technical Managers so that compliance to the BRC Global Standard and relevant customer codes of practice are achieved and maintained.
  • To develop and maintain strong working relationships with our customers and suppliers. To manage and maintain supplier approval and spec management of all CFF suppliers via Group technical services.
  • To have a working knowledge of our customers technical policies so that we and our suppliers are compliant.
  • To develop a proactive and good strong working relationship with the retailer technologists and the supplier based technical managers.
  • To prepare and issue customer technical and KPI reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • To hold KPI meetings with the category team at site and present the information to the team before submission to the customer.
  • To work with NPD in the preparation and attendance of all trials and first production runs.
  • To liaise with the NPD Manger to ensure specifications are completed in a timely manner.
  • To liaise with the site technical team at the hand-over of post launch products.
  • To ensure that technical filing systems are maintained to an acceptable standard so that prompt retrieval of project data is achievable by all site technical personnel.
  • To manage all customer queries in a prompt and efficient manner, and to seek solutions to any issues of concern.
  • To agree and deliver with the Category team the critical path for completion of all technical tasks associated with product development, and to provide regular progress reports so that any slippage can be identified early and corrected without jeopardy to the target launch date.
  • To prepare accurate and timely Pack Copy, product specifications and artwork.
  • To advise the Category team on the legal description of the product.
  • To brief back actions arising from Retailer technologist visits to the business for implementation.
  • To agree sampling plans, which are compliant to the retailers requirements, with our suppliers so that the safety, legality and quality of all raw materials, work in progress, finished product and the working environment is maintained
  • To approve and challenge the suppliers HACCP plan
  • Key Cover During Absence: CFF Technical Manager/Technical Account Manager
  • Maintain retailers specification portal and maintain 100% acknowledgement of alerts and surveys, replying promptly to queries
  • To provide technical input into all relevant category management meetings.
  • Actively monitor, trend and reduce complaints
  • Works to ensure that where ever possible tasks carried out minimise environmental impact
  • There may be times where overtime or weekend work will be required to meet the demands of the business
  • Maintain retailers specification portal and maintain 100% acknowledgement of alerts and surveys, replying promptly to queries
  • To provide technical input into all relevant category management meetings.
  • Actively monitor, trend and reduce complaints
  • To carry out other tasks as assigned by the Technical Account Controller, this may involve covering additional customer accounts as and when required
  • Works to ensure that where ever possible tasks carried out minimise environmental impact
  • There may be times where overtime or weekend work will be required to meet the demands of the business.

Requirements

  • Ideally 2 years’ experience in using Evolve, MCreate, APP and other supermarket Micros portals with certified training.
  • Applying knowledge/experience to analyse information, make judgements and reach decisions
  • Food experience, awareness of allergens, typical compound ingredients and ingredient declarations
  • Delivering to expectations and set standards; understanding and applying relevant procedures
  • Manages time and prioritises in order to complete requested tasks as set by the business.
  • Shows awareness of personal responsibilities to self and others to perform work tasks safely
  • Computer literate, numerate and good English writing and reading skills
  • Good clear and friendly telephone manner in order to communicate with Customers and Suppliers

Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday
