We are currently recruiting for Butchers to come and join our Prep team, here at Yorkshire Baker. The purpose of this role is to effectively manage a Butchery line and any staff in your charge, ensuring that the targets defined by the Butchery Manager are continually achieved.
Main duties include (but not limited to):
• Responsible for supervising all aspects of a Butchery Line from delivering a best quality product to ensuring product yields are met at all times.
• To ensure planned outputs are achieved precisely, economically and to the predetermined quality standards.
• Ensure that lost production time is kept to a minimum.
• Ensure an exceptional level of internal/external customer service through on time deliveries and minimal customer returns.
• Liaise with the Butchery Manager to identify the correct levels of staff required to fulfil customer demands ensuring that labour costs are kept to a minimum where possible.
• Effectively harness, motivate and develop their team in order to reduce staff turnover and encourage maximum productivity.
• Involvement in the risk assessment process, to reduce the risk to H&S in the Butchery Department.
• Ensuring that all information relevant to “preventative and protective measures” is passed to the direct reports on the line.
• Liaise with the H&S Department to establish controls for H&S to include: -Daily Start Up checks
• Accident & Near Miss Investigations
• Monitoring of corrective actions
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure that planned preventative maintenance is carried out.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience of working as a butcher in food production is essential
- Ability to manage and direct a team where necessary
- Experience of working in a fast paced environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Motivated and reliable
