This is a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

What does the day to day look like for this role?

The Quality Assurance Manager role will support the Technical Department and be responsible for assuring the safety, legality and quality of all products manufactured on the site. Ensuring that the objectives and procedures detailed in the Quality Manuals are met, and the appropriate corrective action is taken where this is not achieved.

You will provide technical input into product and process development in order to maximise product yield and quality within the limits of the agreed product specification.

Also responsible for the growth and development of the Quality team to provide the required resource to ensure the factory is supported by an effective and dynamic team.

Role Duties

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the QA Departments and their functions; CCP monitoring, legal compliance, food safety and quality.
  • The development and training of all direct reports in line with personal development plans and skills gaps, maintaining a high level of subject matter experts on equipment / food safety / and product quality
  • Maintaining detailed knowledge of all departmental working procedures and specifications.
  • To manage the food safety plan, legality and quality audit function for the site. Where non-compliance is identified to deliver corrective action, and for verifying that this action has been effective.
  • To ensure that systems of traceability are correctly operated at each stage of manufacture. To validate traceability by ensuring traceability studies are carried to schedule; encompassing an annual recall traceability study and mass balance exercise to the schedule and matrix.
  • Oversee validation work in line with the schedules to comply with control procedures eg allergen / species / chlorite residues
  • To support the Technical Manager in delivering the technical business plan in line with the Technical Strategy.
  • To ensure that the company maintains compliance with the BRC standard and all other customer COP’s.
  • Manage product QAS in line with defined specifications and drive continuous improvement plans with raw material suppliers and factory department managers where challenges exist.
  • Support pre-productions and host launches of new products to ensure all QA and Technical responsibilities are satisfied to deliver a great launch experience with the customer, in line with quality and legal standards.
  • To ensure that daily preparation of products for micro testing is accurate, environmental swabbing plan is completed within the schedule and daily test panels are completed. Support technical team with completing investigation reports for out of specification results.

Experience:

  • Strong and in depth understanding of all relevant retailer requirements and COP’s
  • Strong and in-depth understanding of current BRC requirements
  • Good understanding of food science and technology, particularly with food categories we produce.
  • Good understanding of food safety and other relevant legislation
  • Good team management skills
  • Strong communication and interaction skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Proactive and flexible approach
  • PC Literate and able to use latest Microsoft software (e.g. PowerPoint / excel / word)
