Engi­neer­ing Manager

We have a vacancy for an Engineering Manager, the role has responsibility for the maintenance of all plant & machinery, utensils, fixtures and fittings on the site to a standard which conforms with all health & safety legislation, the requirements of EFSIS and the Company’s Insurers. The management of the department and the staff under his/her control in a manner which minimises the risk of accident or loss. To provide detailed engineering advice and direction on all aspects of plant procurement, design installation and implementation

Some of the Main Duties are:

  • To establish, maintain and carry out a planned preventative maintenance schedule for all plant and machinery on site in full compliance with the requirements of the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety and with minimal disruption to production
  • To co-ordinate such maintenance to meet the needs of production
  • To ensure that a maintenance manual and drawings are held for each item of plant and equipment on site
  • To identify critical spare parts/consumables and to maintain a stock thereof at a level which is consistent with the manufacturer’s recommendations and/or experience
  • To investigate the cause of persistent recurring faults and to take whatever remedial action is required to resolve.
  • To order routine parts and consumables through the Company’s standard ordering procedure. All purchase orders to be countersigned by the Operations Director.
  • The management of departmental holiday rota’s and holiday entitlement
  • The organization of labour for additional shifts to cover holiday, sickness or other absence. Communication of same to Operations Director, Factory Manager and Payroll.
  • To conduct and document post absence interviews
  • To maintain attendance Register for the Department
  • To ensure the correct standard of personal hygiene and attire of the staff under his/her control
  • To monitor timekeeping, attendance, productivity and standard of work of the staff under his/her control and to take remedial action to rectify sub standard performance

Knowledge, Skill and Experience Required:

  • Level 3 in H&S. Either IOSH Managing Safely or Cranswick equivalent
  • Food safety Level 3 (level 4 Food)
  • Proven experience in Managing Engineering teams
  • Excellent computer skills
  • All relevant risk assessments and safe working procedures are reviewed and to current methods.
  • Hazards and near miss reporting training.
  • Accident investigation training
  • Have a solid understanding of operation/function and repair of all machinery on site and plant, and associated equipment.
