Senior National Account Manager
Natalie joined Cranswick in 2009 as part of the accounts team at our Preston site, whilst she was studying for her Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification. During this period Natalie successfully upgraded the finance system and made significant progression through involvement in large projects across the group. "The company was great, they knew I wanted more and allowed me to invest time in major projects across the company and get involved in key accounts which were customer facing. This all allowed me to streamline the business through earlier involvement with customers."
Natalie had been due to leave the business to pursue her career elsewhere but when an opportunity arose for a senior commercial role, it was recognised that Natalie had a number of transferrable skills suited to the position, so her name was put forward for the post by senior management. Natalie's understanding of the business gained from her roles in finance, gave her a clear advantage for the challenge of managing a large account. "Cranswick not only gave me an opportunity to progress but they invested the time needed to give me the skills to do the job. I just had to give the dedication and hard work." Natalie is now a Senior Account Manager working with a major retailer. Recognising that there was the opportunity to move between functions across the business has meant that Cranswick retained a valuable member of staff and Natalie benefited from commencing a new and challenging role in which she has thrived.
After graduating from The University of Liverpool Clare joined Cranswick Continental in 2003 as Graduate Trainee Production Manager. Working with a team of operatives on a day to day basis, forecasting, planning, reporting on KPI’s and controlling packaging, Clare was empowered with making decision from an early stage. “The role was challenging with no two days were the same”.
By 2005 Clare had proven herself within the role and was promoted to the position of Buyer within the Purchasing Department. Clare was responsible for purchasing hundreds of raw materials and finished products, across a huge overseas supply base. "It was an exciting role, and my knowledge of the factory gave me a real insight into how the business worked”. Through her commercial awareness Clare ensured the best prices and product requirements were met.
In June 2008 Clare was promoted to Commercial Manager reporting directly into the Managing Director, quickly becoming an invaluable member of the senior management team. Responsibilities included taking on the implementation of a costing system, ensuring standards were in line with the management accounts, attending board meetings and presenting capex proposals. “Outside of CCF I was seconded to the new pastry division in Malton for 12 months prior to / during the initial build”.
On returning from maternity leave in 2014 Clare was approached to take on the role of General Manager for both Manchester sites, heading up onsite operations. With their new site in Bury almost complete Clare’s role has further expanded. “We are about to embark on our phased move from Manchester to our purpose built site in Bury”. “This will without doubt be the biggest challenge to date …. But equally exciting!”
In my time at Cranswick Continental I’ve worked hard and took on responsibility quickly, Cranswick have responded to this by giving me the opportunities to prove myself”.
