We pride ourselves on the development of our staff. Not only progressing up the chain but also making sure our staff get the skills and experience in different roles and responsibilities to allow them to see their strengths as well as see what they enjoy.
Senior National Account Manager
Natalie joined Cranswick in 2009 as part of the accounts team at our Preston site, whilst she was studying for her Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification. During this period Natalie successfully upgraded the finance system and made significant progression through involvement in large projects across the group. "The company was great, they knew I wanted more and allowed me to invest time in major projects across the company and get involved in key accounts which were customer facing. This all allowed me to streamline the business through earlier involvement with customers."
Natalie had been due to leave the business to pursue her career elsewhere but when an opportunity arose for a senior commercial role, it was recognised that Natalie had a number of transferrable skills suited to the position, so her name was put forward for the post by senior management. Natalie's understanding of the business gained from her roles in finance, gave her a clear advantage for the challenge of managing a large account. "Cranswick not only gave me an opportunity to progress but they invested the time needed to give me the skills to do the job. I just had to give the dedication and hard work." Natalie is now a Senior Account Manager working with a major retailer. Recognising that there was the opportunity to move between functions across the business has meant that Cranswick retained a valuable member of staff and Natalie benefited from commencing a new and challenging role in which she has thrived.
Retail Production Manager
Ben was one of the first graduates to come through our Graduate Programme, joining us in October 2011 to pursuit a career in production. Starting at the Preston site, Ben worked in the abattoir and butchery for 10 months, this gave him a solid grounding to progress on to production roles in retail packaging at the three different sites, Gourmet Sausage, Riverside and Preston. By 2015, Ben had progressed to Junior Shift Manager in the Retail department at Preston, and his career continued to grow from strength to strength.
In April 2016, Ben was promoted to Production Manager and promoted again a year or so later to Department Manager. This gave Ben a position on the Senior Retail Management Team. Now in his new role as Factory Manager at Riverside, Ben is accountable for all aspects of the site.
Ben is loving his new role and says "Cranswick is a great company to work for because it has a great passion for success, and ultimately being the best at what it does. It's a company where progression is there for you if you earn it, and isn't afraid of giving young people a chance in senior roles, if they show dedication and promise."
