Spec­i­fi­ca­tions Technologist

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday

Working Hours: 8.30 – 5.00 with half hour unpaid break

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specifications Technologist to join our Technical Department.

As a Specifications Technologist, you will play a key role within the team, supporting the management and maintenance of product specifications and technical documentation.

The role will involve collating, responding to customer enquiries, completing and maintaining both customer and internal specifications, managing document control processes, proofing product labels, and ensuring compliance with current legislation.

With the main objective of managing all aspects of internal specifications and supporting the maintenance of customer specifications.

You will:

  • Ensure production of internal specifications, recipes and process control documentation based on the information supplied by the NPD. Production, Planning, Purchasing and Process Control departments.
  • Assisting in the management of the document control system for individual customer Technical Manual systems, issuing new documentation and ensuring obsolete documentation is destroyed with the master copy being archived.
  • Ensuring all amendments are adequately documented.
  • To ensure all customer specifications are completed to the highest standard within set timescales.
  • In conjunction with the tech services manager/tech team carry out annual reviews of all customer specifications, internal specifications, recipes, process control documentation and labels to a set plan.
  • To assist in ensuring a definitive list of all controlled customer technical documents is kept up to date and manage the filing/access of such documents.
  • Learning to and then complete proof reading/signing all product labels ensuring they comply with current legislation.
  • In conjunction with the site technical manager to keep the company up to date of current legislation.
  • Any other duties as requested by the Specification Manager / Technical Manager.

What we need from you

Essential

We’re looking for a proactive team player, with strong attention to detail and key time management skills. Our ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of basic food safety, technical expertise, strong organisational and analytical skills and the ability to work under pressure. As this is an office-based role, confidence using computers, Excel and internal systems is important, along with good communications skills. A positive attitude, willingness to learn is important and understanding of safe working practices are essential.

Desirable

Whilst full training will be provided, Level 3 certification in HACCP and Food Safety would be advantageous. GCSE/O Level education (or equivalent).
