Forklift Driver/Yard Operative

4 on 4 off Days, 06.00am – 06.00pm

The purpose of this role is to ensure safe, efficient and accurate movement of pallets, packaging and crates to ensure deadlines are met.

 

Main duties include (but not limited to):

  • Loading / unloading / pulling / picking manufacturing pallets, packaging and crates as required
  • Report any quality or stock discrepancy issues to the appropriate person
  • Operate a forklift safely and efficiently, maintain required certification, perform vehicle safety checks and report discrepancies to Supervisor
  • Assist in keeping facility clean, neat, safe and operating efficiently
  • Maintain and collate records of equipment, recycling and packaging movements as required
  • Feeding plastic crates and dolavs through wash machine in and out feeds
  • General checking of tray quality before sending into factory
  • Helping control and remove build-up of condensation in tray wash room as required
  • Segregating cardboard and plastics for baling in recycle baling machine
  • Unloading trays and waste from trailers
  • Loading factory waste into compactor if required
  • Tray and pallet shrouding, stacking and sorting prior to washing
  • General yard hygiene and tidying duties as required
  • Wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment at all times within the Production Area
  • Carry out training commensurate with the area including regular refresher/update training as and when required
  • Report any equipment defects immediately to the Yard Charge Hand
  • Behave in a safe and appropriate manner at all times
  • Assist during internal / external audits as required

 

Requirements, experience and person specification:

  • Valid FLT Counterbalance licence
  • All core training and mandatory procedures
  • All relevant site/area policies, procedures & processes (including customer specific requirements)
  • Minimum level 2 Food Safety
  • Previous experience of FMCG manufacturing (advantageous)
  • Understanding of continuous improvement tools and techniques
  • Awareness of customer standards
