Finance Manger

Job Purpose

The Financial Accountant will deliver accurate financial reporting, both internal and external, in line with the company timetable, managing and developing the Sales and Purchase ledger team.

Ensuring smooth running of key business processes (sales to receipt, purchase to pay), they will also maintain a strong framework of financial control.

Job Context

One of three direct reports of the Finance & IT Controller, the full Finance team is made up of Financial Accountant (+5 heads), Management Accountant (+1 head) and IT Manager (+6 heads).

Responsibilities of the role

  • Preparing internal and external financial reporting including management accounts, P&L review and balance sheet and ensuring the appropriate sign-off is obtained.
  • Owning submission of financial results to Division/Group through consolidation software.
  • Ensuring the sales to receipt and purchase to payment business processes are robust and continually reviewed with both risk and continuous improvement in mind.
  • Completing due diligence on new suppliers/customers.
  • Balancing cashbook postings leading to accurate and timely bank reconciliation.
  • Managing processes around Budgets/Forecasts across P&L components, Balance Sheet and Cashflow including submission on to Group through consolidation software (Tagetik).
  • Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register.
  • Tracking spend performance on capital projects, offering support and challenge to ensure optimal outcome.
  • Managing company expenses process – ensuring adherence to policy and identifying opportunities through analysis.
  • Managing our import/export declaration process.
  • Be instrumental in ensuring completion of Internal/External audit and tax requirements.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy and control.
  • Supporting the Finance & IT Controller on ad hoc projects as required.
  • Educating the Finance and wider business functions on relevant changes to accounting standards or internal policies.
  • Developing your team through effective objective setting, feedback, support and stretch targets.

Technical skills and experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Proficient in producing and tracking key financial reporting.
  • Previous experience of developing individuals and leading a highly engaged team.
  • Confident in systems and using MS Excel.

  • Assuring that all the employees working in your area are complying with the management systems

Food Safety:

You will be working in a food manufacturing area and are required by law to produce a safe and legal product. Cranswick have also entered into contracts with its customers and as such you are required to ensure the agreed quality expectations of the customer are matched or exceeded. For the company to meet these requirements you must follow all company policies and procedures to the letter, and follow any reasonable instructions given.

To assist the supervision and management with the safe introduction and development of new colleagues to your area.
