Factory Technical Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Factory Technical Manager to join our team, here at Yorkshire Baker. The main purpose of this role is being responsible for ensuring the safety, legality and quality of all products manufactured on site, whilst ensuring operations are compliant to the site’s Food Safety & Quality Management System. You will be providing leadership and management of the quality team to deliver their roles effectively and to provide succession planning for the future, here at Yorkshire Baker.

Main duties include (but not limited to):

  • To lead technical and quality management on the shop floor on a daily basis
  • Manage the factory’s internal inspections such as GMP or glass hygiene
  • Support customer visits and audits as directed by the Site Technical Manager
  • Manage and scheduling of micro sampling plan & results management
  • Manage and scheduling of analytical sampling plan & results management
  • Manage and scheduling of internal taste panels and reference libraries
  • Attending relevant cross functional site meetings & presenting technical data
  • Support implementation of the technical strategy as well as food safety & quality culture plan
  • Driving continuous improvement plans, for example complaint reduction/quality improvement & non-conformance reduction
  • Temperature validations (cook/chill/freeze/thaw)
  • Support & guide team through challenges and support action plans & run appraisals twice per year

Candidate requirements:

  • Proven food manufacturing experience within a similar role with a passion and hunger to take the next step into a Factory Technical Manager’s role
  • A drive to succeed with excellent communication, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong management skills with proven experience of managing a team, with strong influencing & persuasion skills
  • Level 4 Food Safety (Advanced) & Level 4 in Health & Safety (IOSH Managing Safely)
  • Recognised Internal/Third party Auditing
  • Food related BSc qualification OR minimum 5 years food manufacturing experience
  • Level 4 HACCP and Advanced TACCP
  • Level 4 Listeria and Allergen Management
