Busi­ness Devel­op­ment Controller


To provide the effective, profitable, and progressive commercial development of multiple pet specialist retail accounts for the Pet division both branded and own label. Achieved by encompassing all day-to-day responsibility for the development of new customer relationships at divisional level and leading and developing the commercial strategy with a view to creating a £100m business over the next 5 years.

Main duties include (but not limited to):

  • Part of the senior leadership team of the division working closely with finance and operations.
  • Identify and develop new customer relationships in the fast-growing pet sector.
  • Identify new product development and range extension opportunities particularly in premium wet dog food and pet treats.
  • Develop and manage a robust and dynamic commercial costing regime, managed in conjunction with the weekly accounts, identifying opportunities for profit growth.
  • Driving profitable sales growth in this area of responsibility and aligning the customer base to the fastest growing areas of the market.
  • Sustain and embed strong inter-site relationships between the site and group raw materials.
  • Understand and develop the needs of the customer through regular face to face contact.
  • Maintain a full knowledge and enthusiasm for the range of products produced by the business, developed by regular contact with the shopfloor and key factory personnel.
  • Provide the first point of call for customer contact, managing any issues as and when they arise.
  • Manage the dynamics of the customer relationship, including project management, and understanding supply chain initiatives.
